lol, no shiyatttt but if he wants it to feel like the last few years with his thread then someone on here has gotta be asking for links to substantiate the rumors... :thumb:
i heard saban getting flack from some espn analyst (sounded like a former player-maybe eric allen) for saying that the teams record this year doesnt matter. i guess i agree with st nick but probably not the best thing to say. i think his ego got the better of him and he wanted to explain away miami's record (although they could still get over .500)
Johnson, who had a 36-28 regular-season record in four seasons with Miami, is apparently not overly impressed by the job Saban has done in his first year with the Dolphins. ''I like Saban. I think he's doing a good job,'' Johnson said. ``I was going to say great job, but I can't say great job. I think this year has just been middle of the road. It hasn't been a great year.'' Johnson criticized Saban for saying last week that improving and laying a solid foundation for the future and not the team's record is the foremost concern for the rest of this season. ''When you have a long-term contract you can say those things,'' Johnson said. 'It's amazing how things change. You spend a couple of million dollars on all free agents to start the season -- older guys who are trying to win this year and that's what you need to do in the NFL -- and all of the sudden you are 3-7 so it's, `We're not playing for this year, we're playing for next year.' I don't buy it.'' Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason also questioned Saban on the CBS pregame show, saying Saban's comments were, ``the wrong message to send to his players.'' What I am focused on is turning the corner because we are building the team for the future, so where we are this season doesn't really matter,'' Saban said. ``It doesn't really matter. We want to see guys compete so we can know whether they need to be here, we want them to be here and if they are the kind of people we want. That is what we are trying to find out. ``The record doesn't really matter, the result doesn't matter and the score in the game doesn't really matter.'' Saban said later in the week that ''the future is right now,'' and that winning was important.
didnt know thats what the jimmie johnson comments were about, but thats not who i heard rippin saban (esiason, either).
Any Dolphin fan who expected more that they're getting out of this team is delusional. Wannstedt (like Ditka with the Saints) left the team in shambles.
The Michigan staff has been there forever. I think they're in some kind of contest with Penn state. I know Jim Herrmann has been there like 17 years. He's been DC for nine... his entire job is to find ways to keep the other team in the game... he's very good at it. Almost everyone is still with Lloyd Carr. He is very loyal to his staff and his school.... to a fault, according to some.
