Considering what Bama has gone through for the last 10-15 years, it is a bargain for the potential stability that it brings. Coach Moore has forced the instant championship crowd and the "Good ol' Boy" network into having a little patience. This move has already paid for itself. Over the long haul....it is a gold mine for Alabama football.
What exactly do you mean by stability. Saban has been known to turnover coaches frequently regardless of salary. Saban has also been known to turnover himself frequently. Why should any of this change now?
Stability comes with a head coach, not the assistants. When it comes to CNS, stability come from afford ability. There are not that many colleges that could afford (or would want to) to pay much more in terms of today dollars. As to Bama fans being delusional.............let's just say that here in the SEC, we all partake of the kool aide to some degree. There are also 12 different flavors down here.
And there are a lot of programs that can win championships without guaranteeing a coach 32M and overpaying assistants. I hear a lot of bragging about the money BAMA is able to spend when we have no clue what the returns will be on their investment. Everybody speculates and gives their opinions, but in college football the only thing that matters are W's.
I would hardly call 9-3 a bomb. And there is no way they fire Saban after just one season, regardless of his win-loss record.
You have failed to answer the question... Turnover, when it comes to Asst. coaches, are as normal as butter on bread. If you need an example of how shuffling a staff and how it can improve a program, look no further than Auburn. It seems this has been your mantra for a bit now. I can, without a biased opinion, point to programs where this kind of hire has produced returns on investments...OU, USC, UT (real one) etc...look no further. Correct, but the starting bar is an improvement of at least 3 wins. History. Repeats itself...and that's what the fan base is counting on. :champs: Not expecting that, yet. Look for #28 to be on the horizon, and soon.
I just find it comical that some think you can just throw money around and your program is guaranteed to have increased success. All of the programs you listed gave their coaches significant raises AFTER their teams won championships. Doesn't that seem logical.
Red, do you know if this list has the updated salaries we just gave a few coaches. I saw an article this month in the advocate about it. Henson was one with a raise.
