1. Help out this poor country boy who graduated from Bama will ya? You answered the question where?
  2. Thats why UAB and Boise State shouldn't be allpwed, can't compete or should be banned from the football world right?
Its not like these teams have ever beat a BCS or SEC school before!
    BCS stands for Bs btw.
A playoff system needed to happen years ago, college football are like politicians.
Instead of fixing problems with a solution they create a new one.
  3. Interesting you bring Boise State up. Facts are, they actually make money from their football/athletic program. Although, it's important to point out the amount of revenue they bring in...in ONE season is about equal to what LSU and Bama brings in with one GAME. (2.9 M)

I've got to hand them this...they are in the black and doing about as well as a few teams in the SEC (if you look at the bottom line.)

Entire AD dept. grossed about 60K with the last finacial report...football was about 370K.
  4. Louisiana has eleven football-playing universities. Exactly one pays for itself, pays for all the minor sports, and contributes to the general university fund every year. Louisiana taxpayers foot the bill for the athletic departments at:
    • Louisiana Tech
    • The University of Lafayette Louisiana
    • Louisiana-Monroe
    • Grambling
    • Southern
    • Northwestern State
    • McNeese State
    • Nichols State
    • Southeast Louisiana

Heaven knows who pays for Tulane's football program.
  5. When I see Lance Thompson, UCF demotee, and Joe Pendry on the highest paid coaching staff in the SEC, I have to laugh. Bama is getting straight up ripped off. hahaha
  6. Institutional ego has kept many programs on life support long after someone should have pulled the plug. That said, the money driving most athletic environments leads to greater manipulation of the game, IMO. The rules of the game, number of teams, etc. are always open for change if it adds to ratings. The absolute quality of product matters little because so much of what defines athletic competition is relative. When the money at risk grows, the more contrived everything becomes.
  7. Good point, it will remain to be seen what ROI they get for the head coach and all the assistants. I think saban took them to school. He's good, but not $4 million a year good, IMO. He had one good year at MSU, one excellent year at LSU, but we were competitive after the first year. But do you pay $4 mil a year for that? saban wanted out of Miami, and he and his agent must have played the game "we're open to an offer, but nick is making $ 4 mil a year and we won't go for less". He didn't leave for more money, and I think he'd have taken $3 mil a year. If he didn't and he put up another stinker of a season in Miami, his rep would have been shot. If he turns out to be comparable to the other top 5 coaches in the SEC, will Bama have paid too much? I'd say so.

  8. Where does that come from? I suspect it's an opinion based on little knowledge of the talents LT brings to a program. He did one hell of a job with the defense when he was at Bama his first go-a-round (SECC with a great DL), and it's my opinion that LSU fans who criticize him today have quickly forgotten his contributions to the recruiting classes he coordinated while in BR.
  9. Timing is everything! Just ask Rick Patino.
  10. Please tell me there is mucho raise in store for Coach Pelini.

I really can't deal with the uncertainty of losing the probable driving force of our vaunted defense after next season...

I'm doing my part. Every time I see him jogging down Nickelson, I roll down the window and holler "Way to go coach" with a thumbs up so he doesn't think I'm being sarcastic (at least I hope he knows:eek: ).

I remember seeing him in the grocery store with his two kids the week after the Tenn loss and not giving him any encouragement. I still feel bad about that and if I ever get a chance, I will apologize.:thumb:

    Later,
