That is a great perspective. Really, had this been anybody but Saban making that comment nobody would be talking about this. Also, I doubt it would be a big story if Saban had not taken the Alabama job. Nevertheless, that is a great way to look at it though.
Guys, this is EXPLODING on the gumps big time. The bammerham radio airwaves are keeping the gas poured on this fire. I could personally care less about the comments but it is blowing up in the gumps face like an atomic bomb. LOL
A guy I know from Lafayette transfered to Minneapolis and had the RCA sticker on his car. A black woman filed a greivence against him thinking it was pertaining to blacks. Even after explaining to his bosses what it meant they told him because it was offensive to her he had to remove it or be fired. I hate when people take an uninformed stand on a subject and push it to further their own agenda. Certain other symbols and words come to mind. It's just stupid... The way it sounded Saban meant it just the way he portrayed it. Most other people in the country percieve it as derogatory...that is the way he wanted to come across. So it isn't that he used the word coonass but it is how he used it that irks me.
So...calling a coonass a coonass is big news in Alabama, and I suppose to some here, it's news. Funny thing is, I don't give a damn about anything Saban has to say at this point. He's like that bad ex-wife you hope never calls you again. Fug him. Move on. Now as far as his comments, political correctness, everyone's right to be offended, every whining mofo who stirs this kind of $hitbucket is one of the only things that soothes my otherwise regretful heart about getting old. There are things that I ain't gonna miss. This world is indeed going to Houston in a handbasket. Sumpin' don't change, you young folks are gonna inherit a real mess which I hope you are intelligent enough to fix. I sometimes trust that I've not been part of creating this clusterphuck, but I guess I have. This ole world has indeed spun once too often when you can't call a coonass a coonass. all I know is Louisiana was good to Nick Saban. I Think he was winless in bowl games. Louisiana must have good Dentist (not just ditchdiggers) cause Sabans grille was as ****ed up as a 1975 for pinto when he got here. and he was as white as a gallon of milk. hell we even have hair stylist (he used them too.) I did not care that he went to Bama, I know we will still beat their asses. Saban is a fool if he thinks he will be king in bama like he was in BR. "Coon-Gate" on ESPN and ESPN News They reported the story, and ESPN News played the tape, but bleeped out the "C Word" and the "F Word". Unfortunately, they did not ofer an opinion. IMO, the Coonass story itself was not bad, it was the Alabama Coach's "explanation" that sucked.
