What was absolute giddy joy a couple weeks ago, the gumps in my office are prety subdued today. I admit that I couldnt believe Saban got some recruits to visit that didnt even consider bama before he got there but he hasnt done anything with those visits and lost a few players during the process. This recruiting season and bad PR have the gumps firmly back on earth after their heady days in the clouds. Its hilarious and I am getting my small digs in here and there mostly to a bunch of grumbles and mumbles from my co-workers. LOL
I believe that had a lot to do with some of those visits......a lot of exposure cause it was so polarized in the media. Wait until their 3rd loss, then 4th one next year. :hihi:
This little faux paus by Slick Nick has turned into a big deal all across the SEC. Believe me all the other SEC coaches will use it in their future recruiting when needed. There is now even a new way folks are referring to $aban. They are calling him Coach CANS. CANS=Coon-Ass Nick Saban
The continuing education of Nick. You think he wuld know by now that he is under immense media scrutiny as Bama head coach. I mean it was bad enough at LSU where Nick discovered he could not have covert meeting with NFL teams without the press finding out about it. In Tuscaloosa, there is no "off-the-record". I will be interesting how close-mouthed Saban will be with the Alabama press. He pissed off the media here quickly enough. Heaven know the Bama press can turn on a guy they don't like. Any bets on how long the honeymoon lasts?
If you are refering to the media it's already over. As for the fans i'll give him until the end of next season. Then the honeymoon is over and he has to start doing s*** around the house.
With the lastest episode, I'd venture to say he's probably checking out of the Honeymoon suite as we speak. A couple a more Sunday dinners with the In-laws and he'll reveal his true being.
I agree that the honeymoon is about over with the media, e.g., see article today at www.al.com (Birmingham News/Sports) on bama recruiting. It's a fair assessment but does have some critical remarks, which is more than the Bammaham News has been doing for awhile. As for the fans, I disagree with you somewhat. With the schedule bama has next year, I could coach them to a winning season. So Coach CANS will be OK thru next season. If he doesn't beat Auburn, the fans will start to squirm. But all the bammers are so locked in with him now their egos won't allow much griping for awhile. Heck, most of them were still adulating Shula until the end.
I may have taken the term Honeymoon a little to literally. I was referring to the point in time where the whole CANS can (lol) do no wrong crap goes away. And you should know better than anyone that if he drops the game to Auburn, Bama fans are not going to consider him Saint CANS anymore.
