Saints Release David Patten

Patten began his pro career in the Arena Football League after going undrafted out of Western Carolina in 1995 and working odd jobs. But he went on to a stellar 12-year NFL career, highlighted by earning three Super Bowl rings while playing for New England.

During his time in New Orleans, Patten also served as a locker-room leader and a mentor to a young receiving corps. He especially took Meachem under his wing, working out with the 2007 first-round draft pick during the offseason. For that my friends he deserves mine and every Saints fan's respect, however, it is time to move on. I wish him the best.

Lance Moore is a restricted free agent, I think, so they'll probably give him a solid tender so nobody is willing to give away a high draft pick.
