The Sapling administration has sidetracked a bipartisan effort to create an independent commission to examine the Sept 11th attacks. While the White House publicly supports the commission's creation, 'they privately move to thwart it behind the scenes' said House Minority Whip Nancy Pelosi. The Democrats are now challenging the White House to put up or shut up on the formation of the commission. Ari Fleischer, the administration's communication flunkie, says that Sapling is concerned about the commission's leadership and subpoena powers. ROTFLMAO!! The commission would be split 50-50 by party line AND as far as subpoena powers goes, that is how information is obtained. What Sapling REALLY objects to is the fact that the deck won't be stacked like his Social Security Task Force where he put a bunch of people on it who already believed in individual investment of SS taxes, and even with that, they didn't come back with that recommendation. So Sapling, quit trying to stop the investigation which I'm sure worries you and especially Condeleeza Rice, who had information ON HER DESK BEFORE Sept 11th that expressed concerns about events happening (regarding an increase of Middle Eastern citizens getting flight training), and did NOTHING about it. Let's see, that is Rice who is National Security Advisor who DROPPED the ball on National Security. Can't wait to see her next job performance review -- if done by anyone independent, she would be FIRED!!
