This is a crucial point, and one that is also overlooked by many. It isn't as if bama is simply steamrolling all of the competition, with no one else even having a realistic shot. Let's recap, shall we?

In 2009, he had to have Jabba the god damn Hut block 2 FGs against Tenn, a CLEAR interception by PP improperly ruled, and the Horns' starting QB go down early in the NCG to win it all.

Last year, he had to have a do-over to get in the NCG, despite beating, what, ONE ranked team all year.

This year, he had to have a VERY questionable call go Stanford's way as well as a complete collapse by our defense in the waning moments to get in.

He may be the best coach in the country, but he is for god damn sure the LUCKIEST. I keep waiting for his deal with the devil to expire, but apparently the devil is still alive & kicking in Birmingham. Who knows...maybe the cops will discover his kiddie porn dungeon during the offseason.

I think it has to do with how often a mistake especially one that is repeated over and over, can impact what has to be accomplished. I also think you have to look at what type personalities tend to work in the profession in question. When I was a T-38 instructor in USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training I did not consider myself a screamer UNLESS, the same mistake keeps happening over and over AND I had "to save our lives" on EVERY mission. I think in the case of football coaches some deal with mistakes/failure in different ways, for the most part the best coaches you see these days are also some of the most intense ALL THE TIME. Usually the head coach knows he is the only one with a deal longer than this year and they really don't care how professional or unprofessional they look. Look at how many high profile NFL players you see mouthing off to a coach................Not saying what you post is incorrect but the type of job and who is in it has alot to do with how things go.

lol, or military (for the most part) in general. You know it is cool if you need to chew someone a new one and you "take them off to the side" but then you yell at them loud enough to be heard on the other side of the mountain. Oh yeah, I'm guilty, been on both sides of that one lots of times. Even over the radio a few times.

I agree with you, so don't misconstrue what I'm saying, but this is exactly what I hear (or used to hear) our opponents say about Miles.

I don't disagree, and in the military, where life or death can be on the line, then chew some ass whenever necessary.

But a football coach? There's no life or death involved there. They don't have to be an ass in public. ;)

I guess you mean Tuscaloosa, right? Not there's much of a difference between the two. In one of his post-game comments Saban pointed this out. He said that Georgia was so close to beating them and referred to the many other close calls. Then he said that they needed to get even better. Saban clearly wanted to remind everybody that it has such a clear cut journey.

Wrong, Saban has always tried to get the media to not say anything about his teams that would put them on a higher level than everyone else. For 1, he wants his players to think they can get beat anywhere anytime, which is almost true, see UAB, ULM. 2. He is so egotistical and wants to be liked so much that he overly tries to show that he respects or cares about his opponent, which is obviously untrue.

I fully realize that's it's one of his tactics as a coach. But, what he said is also very true.
