In many ways, Jackson was subtle about it. I remember hearing him in the 80's talking about different programs. He didn't SAY it directly, but he implied that LSU cheated. He KNEW that most of the regulations we have in place today was due to his friend, DA BAR, cheating his A$$ off, but he would NEVER speak bad of BAR BRYANT. Instead, he subtlely implied that LSU was a program "without character" (he meant, LSU - and a number of other schools he wasn't fond of - cheated).

I was 14 when we played USC in 1979. And, I can vividly remember screaming at my T.V. - "F*&(K YOU, YOU OLD PIECE OF $HIT." He was ACTIVELY pulling for USC.

I've already forgotten about Keith Jackson. Didn't he die?

I had respect for KJ until he was the annoucer for the Arizona/LSU basketball game where Shac made his famous dunk. The whole game up to Shac's famous dunk, KJ was extremely bias to Arizona, it made me sick. He made it sound as though Arizona was so superior to LSU, in that Arizona shouldn't be losing the game.

Whenever LSU had the lead, KJ made it sound as though it wasn't suppose to be that way. He started making excuses for Arizona, especially how Shac was getting the better of Arizona's twin towers. It was very apparant who KJ was pulling for. Even though we won the game, I came away having a lack of respect for KJ.

An annoucer is not supposed to be bias. He was the worse annoucer I had ever seen or heard before when it came to being bias. When it comes to bias annoucers, he's the kingpin of them all.

Now that you bring basketball into this....Bill Walton may be the biggest homer calling games today...

I don't mind KJ all that much. He's several orders of magnitude better than Madden. If Madden drank as much as Harry Carey, woudn't that be a treat???

You guys are way too harsh on KJ. He has always been the bombdiggitty and good for college football.

Keith Jackson lost all credibility a couple of years ago when he announced he was retiring, then ABC gives him more attention than the games themselves, and then he unretires prior to the next season. Once you retire, stay retired or give all your retirement gifts back!:tigerhead

I've never liked KJ when he calls games that impact LSU or where he has a bias.

You don't have to go far back either. I watched the OSU/Michigan game and as Michigan started pounding Ohio St., here came the Keith Jackson comments..."Now that other team from the West Coast will move into the #2 slot for a National Championship shot"...He must of said that 5 or 6 times, just rearranging the words a little differently each time. His co-announcer would say something like..."and don't forget about LSU, their in the hunt too" and there would just be dead silence.

It really cemented his homer reputation for West Coast teams for me.

I admit I like him if he calls a game that he is unbiased toward. Those are few and far between.

I never really felt Keith was biased toward anybody. He usually would talk about reverence for programs with great histories and rivalries.

I guess you could say he's a bit of a Pac 10 homer now, since he only does pac ten games now, but I always thought he was fair. He just went with the flow of the game and got excited when a good play was made and it's usually made by the better teams.

He may have a bias toward the traditonal powers like Michigan, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and so on, but I don't think he' s anti-anybody. He'll praise whoever is winning in the end.
