On one hand, people point to the sanctions as the reason they think they'll win the game. On the other hand, the sanctions never come into the conversation when they talk about fingers and thumbs. There isn't a question as to whether or not he's done a good job down on the plains. The question is whether or not Alabama fans want him gone. We don't. The question is more along of the lines of Lowder and company want him gone. With aTm, it isn't a money situation. They've got plenty of it IF they want to throw the bank at him. Tuberville doesn't like playing second fiddle...and, even when they were having great success on the field the media wasn't focused on their success, they were focused on what was happening in T-town. The game still has to be played...even with the domination Auburn has had around the SEC the last few years, it's still a ball game when we face the Tigers. Tubs has surrounded himself with some solid assistants. It's lead to a lot of their success...even though it's been a revolving door...which isn't a bad thing when you have other programs wanting your asst. coaches.
Just saying...it's laughbable to hear Bama fans say stuff like that. "We want him to STAY at AU". Why? So he can keep adding fingers in the air? Because you've had so much success against him? Why? Revenge? So maybe Bama can even things out against him? He won't LIVE long enough for that to happen...much less still be coaching at AU. I'm not saying Bama will NEVER beat a Tubbs coached AU team...but it reads like sour grapes...discounting what he's done against Bama...AND all the other great teams he's beaten. Like Tiga said...his record against top 10 teams is unreal. He's the real deal...whether you like him or not.
That’s because everyone likes to slow down at look at the wreck on the side of the road. It’s human nature. Do you really want to talk about a revolving door with the coaching staff ? Really ?
Maybe toes? Sorry T, still tastes like cheap whine. Quick question, Has anyone ever shaken J. Sexton's hand and was a mandatory shower required afterwards?
Adversity is a good thing. Tommy is a good coach and he does make the Conference stronger why would we want a good coach gone when it's to the conference as a whole? You always want your rivals at their best, it makes a win if you get one that much sweeter. Kinda like saying man I hope their RB and QB are hurt for that game. That'd be kinda chicken ****. Auburn will beat Alabama again and Alabama will beat Auburn again no matter who the coach is. There's something of a revenge factor in there of course, but not a 5-0 revenge thought process. Depending on who/if Arkansas lands a good coach the SEC could get even tougher which is great IMO.
If I am reading Terry's comments right, perhaps there is a point some here are missing. TT has created a certain dynamic in Alabama that generates a fair amount of animosity. If Bama can get their program moving, negativity surrounding TT works against him. It would be worse for Bama if the Auburn head coach cultivates universal respect and admiration, expanding his realm of influence. Sure he may be a decent coach, but TT may have gotten all he can, and that was with a down Bama program. Now his in state rival is looking to strike.
Why would Tommy want to leave the best College Program in the sate of Alabama to go to the 2nd/3rd/4th best Program in Texas? Just doesn't make sense for him to leave. I think enough time has passed over the Petrino thing..... Also, if Auburn was smart, they wil pay him well to stay where he is as recruiting will get alot tougher in his state since CNS is "down the road". AND... They SEC is soo much better than the Big 12. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
You are right. There is some animosity toward TT in Alabama. It comes from the bama fan base. It should. I have no problem with that. If the bama fans loved TT, something would be amiss. Most folks around here can’t stand Auburn or TT either. Good. That’s the way it is supposed to be in a heated rivalry. bama was once the premier team in the SEC. Now it’s not. One day down the road, it might be again. But not on a consistent basis. There is just too much parity n college football.
Yeah, I don't believe Bama supporters would like an Auburn head coach who commands widespread respect and admiration, winning people over with performance and character. They need a "Did you hear what that stupid SOB did..." kind of rival.
