So, if the Dawgs and Gators have the talent market, why is Tennessee the team to beat in the East?

Also, the Bama Poly crowd is actually correct about the Crimson Tide. Probation's left them very thin. If the defense takes 1/2 the hits their offense did in 2004, Bama is sub-.500 team. The defense will carry Alabama, not their offense.

Tennessee, Florida & LSU all have top-tier receivers. Florida's are the most proven. LSU's got the most potential. Tennessee's are right in-between.

I thought this was assessing units? if so, then LSU has the best wideouts. Florida's is average at best, they are just an air it out team.

Not so fast. True, Alabama still hasnt recovered completely from scholarship restrictions just yet, but they will be in better shape this year than they were last year, especially on defense. I think you forget how young they were last year. I believe they lose only Cornelius Wortham (LB) and Todd Bates (DE) on defense. There are a lot more players coming in that going out. I think Shula deserves more credit than a lot of people have given him. He has managed scholarships and covered up weaknesses very well. The only real weakness I see on this team is on the offensive line. They graduate Wesley Britt and Evan Mathis which are big losses, but they have recruited well in the lines. If the OL can hold up, they could be a very good team. They have tough early tests at USC (maybe tough, who knows about visor boy) and at home against Florida (again, maybe).

Easy. UT won the East and made people forget that their D is not even that good and their QB over-achieved as a freshman.

UGA won't have as much depth as LSU at RB but their top 3 guys will be just as good as anybody in the country if Lumpkin comes back 100%. 3 guys is about all you can play effectively anyway.

I agree that as a unit LSU is tops in the SEC at WR, maybe the country. I also agree that the QB developement will be a factor in how good they perform, as it is with all WR's.

Williams won't emerge this season, he has already emerged and was LSU's most consistent performer at any position last year. He should be even better but Oliver and/or the Pittmans are the real keys in my opinion. Wroten and the young defensive tackles will be all be very good.

I will be real surprised not to see Georgia make it back to the Georgia Dome primarily because of Georgia's running game and defense.

I've been to a few practices and will go to the Spring Game this Saturday in Athens. Richt has quietly pulled in 4 top 10 recruiting classes in a row and some of the up and coming talent looks awesome.
