Win (in order of value) UGA--clear front-runner in sec e now. LSU--FIRSTsec opener win on the road, ever. Ole Miss--memphis is rarely a pushover UK--blowout important for fragile psyche Loss (in order of bad value) USC--that score to that team is a loss Auburn---that game against that team at home is a loss Ark--confirmed their D is hurting No value games UF--so what bama--so what UT--played a very good team tight on the road MSU--what did you expect oh, did vandy play?
One of my favorite parts in that book "dixieland Delight" was when he was talking about the TN/Cal game last year and said the crowd at the end of the game starting chanting "SEC,SEC,SEC!!!" Good stuff!!
Yes, but did he play the 3 deep in the third and fourth? No. 52-6, with the scoring plays coming on blitz packages...we all knew these were opportunities.
Ah, number games! Can't take credit for the research but: Western Carolina scored versus an SEC team for the first time since 1989. In 1989 they scored 3 against South Carolina. Note: Western Carolina scored scored twice against Bama. - Six points is the most points scored against an SEC team by Western Carolina since 1987 when they scored 6 against South Carolina. - Western Carolina's overall record against the SEC prior to Saturday was 0-10. And they have been outscored 469-39. The only thing that makes it that close was the very first SEC vs Western Carolina game was a 45-24 nail biter. Minus that game they have been outscored 424-15 in the 9 games previous to Saturday. - Other than South Carolina (which wasn't an SEC team when they beat Western Carolina 4 times in the 80s) only one other SEC team has ever been scored upon by Western Carolina. Unfortunately that was Auburn in 1987 in a 55-6 win. In Auburn's defense, that was the same year Western Carolina scored 24 on South Carolina. - 52 points is the fewest points scored against Western Carolina by an SEC school since 1991 when Georgia beat them 48-0. In fact the average margin of victory since that Georgia game has been 57-0 compiled by 4 different SEC teams. - The 46 point margin of victory is the closest matchup between an SEC team and Western Carolina since 1989 when South Carolina beat them 24-3. If you throw out the South Carolina matchups since South Carolina wasn't actually a member of the SEC in the 80s, Alabama's game against Western Carolina was the closest that Western Carolina has ever come to beating an SEC team.
