If that didn't come from left field. No need to defend Saban here, nobody is bashing him. I know you're stuck on "auto-defend Saban mode", but defending him when nobody mentioned him is going way overboard.
The thread is about ranking the SEC teams. I pointed out that Saban is 40-0 when scoring 25 or more points. I further pointed out that no other SEC team can make that claim. Therefore, LSU is the #1 SEC team. We all have our bases for ranking teams and I'll use that stat. Makes as much sense as any other criteria.
That is no doubt an impressive stat but is it valid in supporting the arguement of LSU being the #1 SEC team this year? Probably not. The thread was about this year, not over the last few years. Still in all, it is an impressive stat. It's a testament to our defense.
Whether LSU would beat an SEC team next week means nothing. It's whether we beat the teams on the date set that matters who is #1.
Exactly. But to answer your question, SabanFan. I suppose we would be in a dogfight if we played UGA or AU right now. I wouldn't say we would definitely win.
If we played Auburn next week and all of the players played to a level of their typical play for this season Auburn would win by more than what they beat us by earlier. Of course no noe can program that into any players so I would have to say we could beat them, but it is more likely that they would beat us. If we played them best out of 5 I think they would take at least 4 out of the 5 due to our inconsistencies on offense and starting kind of slow on defense in most games.
Since we are playing the If game. If Saban did'nt take Randall out after the first scoring drive at Auburn, we win that game by more than a score. Same applies to this thread, IF MR is on and plays the entire game, I think we beat them 4 out of 5.
