So you are saying Lane Mestepay is our second best pitcher. If that is true than we have a lot more problems to worry about than going 0-2 in the SEC Tourney. The real question is what pitching line up will Smoke use for the regional. Will he stay with his Friday starter all year or will he shake things up and put the pitcher who gives us the best chance to win.

Right, but I think Jason logged upwards of 100 pitches across the Saturday and Sunday games.

I would have started Big Taco.

I don't think that's what he's saying. He's saying that out of the 3, Lane was the most rested.

I just don't understand why Smoke keeps going back to Mestepay all year long on Friday games. To me Mestepay would do better as a setup guy. Let him relieve the stater and then get about 2 to 3 good innings out of him before a closer comes in.

Or use him as your weeknight starter. That way, he still overmatches most of our Tuesday-Wednesday opposition, and he builds his confidence level back up. Either way, he's getting his innings in, and is in a good frame of mind for the postseason.

Ok, so we move Lane to the bullpen as a set up guy for Determan... who is our third starter ?

    Meier - lol
    Ramirez - 4 Inning arm
    Nall - See "Centenary Boxscore"
Cahill - young and would probably get knocked around
    Faircloth - 2 inning arm
English - young and would probably get knocked around
Dardar - don't even think about it

we really have no other choice but keep going with Lane.

We need to give Lane a few more starts this year, so that he can get back into his groove.

our middle infielding, namely the left side is unacceptable. there are 3-5 plays a game not being made that dont even show in the boxscore. Balls that most fielders make yet if you dont touch it its not considered an error.

Or simple double plays blown game after game after game.

when you give a team 2 extra innings per game to bat you're standing behind the eight-ball from the beginning.

This especially kills a pitcher like Lane who is not a strikeout pitcher which means he relies completely on the defense behind him.

This is never discussed but even today theres an error and a blown dp which could have ended an inning and a couple more not gotten to in the short time i was able to listen. But this is nothing new....its been nearly every game for the last month.

Yep. Every throw to first base from beyond second makes me very nervous.
