as stated earlier, lane HAS to keep pitching. No other arms able to pitch. If detty starts, who do we go to w/ the game on the line? No other relief pitcher on our roster (or on any roster) is as dominant a relief guy as jason.

For every bad play tirk, look at the unbelievable plays turned by our infielders though. Glass can be half full sometimes pal

routine plays are often turned into highlight plays due to bad positioning, lack of range or simply letting a ball play you.

so be careful of what you consider spectacular.

English is the only guy to throw out there that would make any sense IMO, and I'm more comfortable with Lane out there. In college if you have 2 great starters (which we do), then that is all you really need in postseason play, as long as your offense gets the job done in the 2 games that those guys pitch.

agree id feel better with English over the others. Meier is the guy I was certain to regain his form coming into this year. its simply hasnt happened.

Lane likely has to continue pitching as said by others.

No way dardar sniffs the field.

    nall just doesnt have it.

Edgar has the ability to dominate but he's middle relief at this point.

    Cahill no experience.

    english could be a candidate.

    faircloth is a setup guy.

not all plays have been due to bad positioning. There are numerous plays this year that were highlight material. A lot of these plays were between D. Hebert/M. Hollander. Clay harris had a couple of nice ones and Jackson is actually spectacular at 3rd besides the bad routine throws he made that weren't great...but hey he's a freshman in eligibility in college...isn't the Majors...

certainly there were excellent plays made throughout the year yet if you cant make the routine plays consistently up the middle you are severely limiting your chances to beat any team much less quality SEC teams. This has and still is our biggest problem with this team.

its not the lack of bunting or moving runners along and all the other things that are more fun to talk about killing them. That's secondary and overblown.

The outfield is not without blame either. Patterson and Stav continually let runners get extra bases by throwing through the cutoff man. We give away more runs than teams actually earn.

UT had 17 hits and 16 were singles.

Keep in mind Tirk that the coach deserves some blame just because he has to set the defense and put his players in the best position possible, which sometimes is not the case. I know Smoke can't make Hebert make the plays, but he does control their spots. Boy do I miss Aaron Hill.

Now that people are finally scratching their heads about our pitching, realize that recruiting the top players who get drafted high out of high school is not an excuse. Tulame has been out recruiting us the entire decade so far, so what do they know? I think the most exciting future pitchers we have are Bonura(hurt) and English. The rest are projects or non-starters. If we lose Smith this year, things will be real interesting next year.

If we can't get our !@#$ together with all the seniors we have, then when will we? You can only hope they regain the geauxrilla ball attitude they had about 2-3 weeks ago.

I forgot about Bonura, he had some pretty good stuff, but control was an issue for him. What kind of injury did he get?

correct, Tommy John surgery. I heard the surgery went so well, he will be able to pitch a little faster and was already a loiw 90's pitcher. He's gonna be good trust me.
