I wouldn't mind having 'Chucky' IF Saban chooses to leave.

After close to 20 years, it's probably time to let that go. Jimbo Fisher is no Mike Archer. I think he's learned plenty about being a head coach from Saban and it would be the best solution for now. Saying that, I would by no means give him a long leash.

If we do have to hire an outsider, most of the names mentioned here are offensive minded. Offenses in the SEC are a dime a dozen. Defense is what's set us apart from the rest of the country and has been what's made us successful. Dominance on both sides of the ball would be nice, but if we can't have that, I would like to see the emphasis continue to be on the defense.

Hmm, lemme correct your post a little:

IF Bill Arnsparger leaves, hire from within (Mike) and keep the rhythm and continuity of the team. Mike Archer is ready and learned from the best.

    There, looks right now. :thumb:

Arnsparger was no Nick Saban. Spin it however you want to, but it's been close to 20 years since that happened. Let it go. Not sure if you've noticed or not, but alot has changed since then. This entire staff, top to bottom, is 10 times better than it was then. I guess you think making wholesale changes if Saban leaves is the answer. If you do, then you're wrong. :thumb:

i wouldn't want alvarez, he's too conservative, and look what happened to wisky this year...started out 5-0 in the top 5 then got pounded by an average Mich st team, alvarez is a good coach but i wouldn't want him at LSU.

I found this coaching bio on Butch Davis. Recruiting coordinator for Jimmy Johnson while at Okie St., def. coordinator for Jimmy with the Cowboys, graduation rates of 70% (!) for football players at the U by the time he left.

    Strong stuff, I'd say.

Davis and Petrino are by far my top two. I have to think Spurrier is kicking himself in the ass for jumping on USC so early in the game. He signed a weak ass contract in a school that does not have the talent to win immediately. LSU could have let him win next year and has some of the best facilities/fans in the country.
This sh!t reminds me of the election, I just can't wait till its over whichever way it turns out.

Lord Forbid we ever lose Nick Saban ... I don't see it happening

any time soon ... this latest Miami gig is just a shakedown for more cash to put Saban back to #1 paid coach ...

I say Skip ... if he's still around ... goes with your 10b pick and promotes from within ... I like Muschamp ... and believe he's gonna stick with LSU for a long, long time. He reminds me a lot of a young Cholly Mac ... we'll see
