Serious question, who ultimately runs this offense: Miles or Crowton?

i found the '01 BYU vs Utah game online. (looks like whole game)
watching some of it now, will finish later in week.

    BYU's 1st 2 posessions.
    18 plays.
8 called runs (4 OPTIONS, 3 QB draws, 1 fake reverse)
10 pass mostly slants to TE, couple protection broke down and qb made a play, 1 deep pass.

    punt on 1st possession
    fumble on 2nd

their qb runs the option 10 million times better than JJ does.
he also buys time and at least gets a pass off when his line doesn't block (like every other pass play)

To answer the original question, if Miles had nothing to do with offensive playcalling, he wouldn't have a play chart in his hand on the sideline.

if he needs a playcard in his hand to call the offense, who was calling it for all the other games?

and if he doesn't need a playcard to call the offense, why did he have one for those 2 games?

Neither of those things happened last year, by the way.

I honestly believe Crowton is calling the plays. Otherwise, why would Miles make post-game comments about, "I would have liked to have done this..."

After the Ole Miss game, Miles said that Crowton wawnted to run that particular call and then agreed with him. If Crowton didn't call the plays, Miles wouldn't have said that.

Which brings up my next point. Miles, as the head coach, NEEDS to over-rule Crowton. HE's the head coach. That's always bothered me about Miles. Quit saying what you SHOULD have done after the fact...Just freak'n do it!

He did that and called every play in the 4th quarter.
