Seriously now, can LSU play on the same level as the Kansas City Chiefs?

    He was quoting Billy Madison.

So what if Laron can play in the NFL? One or two or even three guys may be able to. Hell, I'll grant you 6 guys. There's still 22 + special teams. This is not complicated.

Um, times change. Our college basketball players used to dominate but they would get murdered in International competition now.

Exactly. Performance enhancing drugs are more common in the pro's than on the college level. The pro's can actually afford it.

how bout a mythical college all star team with players that performed well in their nfl rookie seasons vs the one of the 70s saints teams?

qb marino, rothlesberger (perhaps a mobile qb is more suitable?-- doug williams or vick)
    rb walker, sanders, dickerson
    wr moss, hayes, bolden
OL hannah, pace, munoz, ogden, mcneill
    de peppers, kearse
    dl greene, dorsey
    lb LT, lambert, thomas
    cb woodson, sanders (returnman, too)
    s lott, bailey

I'll be pretty happy if this LSU team beats all of the NCAA teams it plays this year.

In all seriousness, an elite college team playing against a poor NFL team would come away with zero points and several concussions.

looked up the college v nfl game

"The last all-star win came in 1963, when a team coached by legendary quarterback Otto Graham beat Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers, 20-17."

thats pretty impressive, beating one of the legendary teams and coaches. and it wasnt way back before helmets and forward pass.

I'm sure some of you are aware of this, but I believe back in the 50's & 60's, the NFL used to play an exhibition against a team of college all-stars. I don't know much of the details, like which NFL team was picked to play them and such.

I realize this is totally irrelevant as comparted to today's game given how much the game has changed and how much bigger, stronger, faster the players are, but this did used to happen.

While we're on this subject and 'what if-ing' different scenarios, let me throw in another one. Do you think this LSU team could beat an NFL team of the 70's? I actually think they could. Maybe not the Steelers or Raiders, but I think they could definately hang with a mid-level team just judging by how slow and out of shape some of those guys appear on the old videos.

EDIT: gumborue documented my first paragraph point in his thread above mine. :thumb:

There have been a number of retired NFL Hall of Famer's talk about how much more athletic today's college players are compared to the 50's and 60's NFL teams. There is no way the Green Bay Packers of Vince Lombardi could compete with today's New England Patriots. How the old Packers would compete with a recent collegiate NC is interesting.
