I like everything about Miles except his refusal to make offensive and quarterback adjustments when the game plan isn't working. I don't mind ground and pound if it's working but the man needs to have a Plan B ready. I'd rather have an efficient ground and pound with our traditional strong defense than a fancy spread offense with a sorry defense. But running the ground and pound when it isn't working and telegraphing the plays and running lanes to the defense is ridiculous. My problem with Miles, my only problem with Miles, is the mental block he has on offense and the use of offensive personnel particularly the QB. If he could get around that, he could be every bit as successful a coach as Saban and in fact would probably have a winning record against the gumps.
I don't blame Les for anythong that's not his fault. I don't blame him for the economy. I don't blame him for obamacare. I don't blame him for coastal erosion.
No, of course it isn't Les Miles' fault, he's only the HEAD FUCKING COACH. His stubbornness and inability to lead and adapt is what's at fault. When the university pays the man $4 million fucking dollars a year and sells out their season tickets and has a stadium with a capacity over 100k, people expect more. The gump teams are contending year in and year out. I'm sure that has nothing to do with the head coach either.
So, if LSU isn't the best team in the country every friggin' year . . . then people expect more from Les. Uhhh . . . . sure, pal.
Guys, there is no plan B. Don't you get it. You can criticize the coach because there isn't a plan B, but you can't criticize not going to plan B. Unfortunately, with Jennings, there will not be a plan B in the near future. He has not gotten one completion percentage better and he won't. He is what he is.
There's no bitterer pill than maturity and perspective. When Miles posts his first losing season, my opinion of him will change.
No. People expect the coach to have his team fired up and ready to play. They expect the coach to represent the university and the community in the best way possible. Getting kicked in the teeth by a team that's got a big fat goose egg in the SEC win column in two seasons, and not playing for it. No one said anything about winning every single game or titles every year. Read between the lines, chief.
I don't understand the title of this thread. What's not his fault? Got it, Miles doesn't fumble, throw INTs, or miss field goals. But he is overall responsible for the team's performance. Anyone who watched that game Saturday can see for themselves they weren't ready to play. Call it a hangover from the previous week, call it two injuries on the O-line, call it whatever you want. It's the HC's job to have them prepared. It's also the HC's job to oversee player development, and while most of the team has progressed this season, the offense took a serious step back, and the QB position hasn't improved at all eleven games into the season. It all falls on the HC. Look, I'm not a big fan of piling on or kicking someone when they're down; neither the HC nor the team need me to tell them they stunk this past Saturday. But to suggest Miles has no fault in where this team is, at this point in the season, is crazy talk and utter denial. The HC is accountable. Always. Ask Will Muschamp.
