you lose defense and toughness... both haslem and eddie jones were great defenders, walker and williams cant even spell defense. posey's like 9 million years old too..

wade's out the point and now he doesnt touch the ball every play... why fix somethin that wasnt broke? best record in the nba last year... a dwayne wade injury away from the finals...

dont forget shaq was hurt too... it's just hard for me to buy the new team when the character of the old team was their role players... williams wade walker and shaq all want the ball every play... sounds like L.A. to me :(

Just to shoot holes in your stuff... Haslem is still on the team... so he will play very often, because Toine is very versatile...

James Posey is 28 years old... Some hag huh?

And why fix something that wasn't broke? Because they didn't win the title! If you don't win the title, you can always be better

And you right... this situation does sound a lot like LA to me... meaning 3-4 titles.

There werent too many holes on that team. I like how Shaq took a paycut though b/c it shows that he's willing to sacrifice bigger bucks for the good of the team. He wants to prove that he can win it all without Kobe just like Kobe wants to do the same. Difference is, the ownership of the Heat look like they are willing to make the moves whereas the Lakers are regressing. I think Eddie Jones is still a formidable NBA player. He's a good defender and can knock down the 3's. I think if they could get a good 4 though they'd be great. It would take a little of the load in the post off shaq.

I was confusing the two poseys, BUT... haslem might be on the team, but if toine doesnt start or get enough minutes you KNOW he'll cry.

if it wasnt for wade getting hurt in the east conf finals, and shaq not being 100%, they win the series and go on to play the spurs in the finals.

the situation sounds a lot to LA to me, like swept by the pistons...
payton-williams both used to being number one option
kobe-wade 2guards with serious game... not sure if the attitudes the same but they DEFINATELY want the ball down the stretch
malone-walker different kinds of players, but HUGE ego's and always want the ball
    shaq-shaq

look at the last couple nba and nfl champions

    spurs-duncans team with roll players
pistons-just a BUNCH of roll players..maybe sheed is the superstar?
patriots-brady and a bunch of good roll players
    bucs-bunch of roll players

    notice anything???

college football... last year was usc... but lets look back... lsu-roll players ohio state- roll players

a team full of superstars doesnt normally pan out. too many egos

I hardly call Manu Ginoboli and Tony Parker role players...

You need one superstar leader, but 2 other superstar players, who have role player egos...

Good call Upsizin. That is something we've learned over the last few years. Lakers are the prime example. I wonder when the day comes that Wade develops that ego that we talk about. Personally, I dont think he and shaq will ever butt heads b/c he is still impressionable. It's like shaq is his mentor. Who better to learn how to handle the NBA from?

I just think it works, b/c it virtually eliminates a double team possibility on Shaq...

Williams, Wade, Posey, and Walker can ALL shoot the 3, and can handle the ball, so they can do whatever sort of cutting/moving they want to get open, or they can just stand out and bomb em

I think this makes a lethal offensive team.

Don't say that the Lakers were a "Bad example" or anything...

They won 3 titles in 5 years... and had Malone not gotten hurt/been playing hurt, they would have won another one...

    In football, TEAMS win

    but in basketball, STARS win

I say the Lakers from 2 years ago is the example. Even if they have Malone they dont win. Did you see them get manhandled by the Pistons? They had no shot in that series. I'm just using that one year as reference here. I dont believe that only "stars" win in the NBA. If thats the case, why hasnt Steve Francis, Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, or T Mac won a title? Check me if I'm wrong, but isnt Iverson the only one thats even come close? You have to have the right players around you in any sport your playing. The Lakers didnt win 2 years ago b/c they had too many egos on one team and it finally got to them. Maybe the lack of Malone hurt, but they were out hustled and out classed by Detroit that year.

they didn't win titles yet, b/c the brightest star of them all was busy winning when they were playing...
