You look at EVERY champ in the past 10-15 years, and they all had one thing in common: they all had the league's best player on their team Jordan- 6 times Duncan- 3 times Shaq 3 times Hakeem 2 times
and a bunch of roll players... and then when the roll players grow up... they get big headed and want the team all by themselves... jordan wouldnt have won 6 nba championships with out pippen and kerr and longley, and rodman, and paxson duncan wouldnt have won without horry and parker and malik rose and sean elliot... remember those guys? hakeem without kenny smith, robert horry, mario elie... just like shaq wouldnt have won without kobe, horry, fischer... those guys meant as much as he did.
But those guys were only role players because of Jordan... Look what happened when they left Chicago they did NOTHING Look at Derek Fisher now that he isnt in LA etc... Star players make the NBA go round...
no doubt, but star players just dont co-exist. all of those guys who won the great streaks...didnt have great players with them... remember when the rockets had drexler, barkley, and hakeem??? you can go back pretty far and say, yeah they had a great player, a very good player, a good player, oh, and those two other guys...
Oh, I know... all I'm saying is that if the player is good enough, your margin of error on those 'other guys' is far greater
Jordan made everyone on the Bulls a lot better then they were. Paxson, Armstrong, Grant, Longley, Kukoc, Kerr, and the list goes on....The only person other than Jordan that was successful elsewhere in a starring role was Pippen. Rodman was a good player in his own right. He was the best rebounder in the games history.
