Dale Brown became real close with Shaq and Shaq's father if memory serves me correctly...

First...Shaq HAS spoken to Glenn about staying in school. He has mentioned it before.

The reason Shaq came to LSU goes back to when he was in Germany (I think) where his dad was stationed in the Army. Dale Brown was there giving a talk when Shaq approached him and wanted to ask him some questions about basketball. Brown, looking at this 6'5" man, asked him if he was stationed at the base. Shaq replied that he was still in Jr. high school to which Dale replied..."Where is your daddy...I want to meet him..."

Something like that...my facts may be off but that is why Shaq came to LSU...

That's pretty much the way I recall the story going...so unless we're both completely off our rockers, then that's probably the gist of it...

Very close. Shaq was actually 6-8 and couldn't dunk and asked Dale what he could do about it. Dale looked at him and said "How old are you, soldier?". Shaq replied "thirteen". And Dale replied "Where's your Dad, where's your Dad, Where's your Dad."

At least according to Shaq . . .
