No, I am not concerned about what I read in that story. Its very vague and we do not know of any of the circumstances that led to any of the dismissals, and I am sure they all have a story behind them. So there is just not enough information there to form any sort of accurate conclusion. It does seem typical of a coaching change at a program that is struggling to move up i.e. a program that often has to recruit its 2nd choice players. I can only judge Miles on what he does here at LSU. Here we know the ins and outs and the details of what goes on. Miles appears to place an emphasis at LSU on the very things that are mentioned in that article about OSU. We will just have to watch and see how Miles handles the program for a few years, but IMO he is starting out well. GEAUX TIGERS!!!
You are the biggest worrier on this forum. You are like my old aunts. There is nothing in this: that would lead me to infer that, under Miles, the players did not have to attend class, be on time for team meetings etc. You, on the other hand, immediately go to the hard hat to keep the falling sky from injuring you.
I'm sure these guidelines were posted and replaced Les Miles guidelines which were . . . that players attend class, be on time for team meetings, adhere to workout routines, represent the program well and play hard. Sheesh!
Everyone has different ways of dealing with the same situation. Having managed 12 people at an on-site operation i can tell you that i handled things in my management style and others would have had theirs. The basics to be successful are the same. Hire good people set high standards of expectation and layout a plan to achieve have discipline and rules to be followed enforce them fairly handle situations that arise immediately and dont let them create bigger problems try to make the workplace where people can have fun and enjoy what they do. These sound great and the successful people are the ones that can make them happen. But there are many different management styles that can achieve them.
wow guys, i'm sure before miles was looked at that they looked very closely at how he ran his program. i'm sure every coach has their own set of guidelines and thats just what gundy was doing. at least wait and see how he does with the lsu program before freaking out on a article that doesn't have a reply from miles himself.
Exactly. And Gundy now has a lot to prove as the new HC. I wonder how much of it is kids that were borderline before with their behavior testing Gundy and not getting away with it. And Hawker is right about the OSU coaches have a history of taking kids that have had problems and giving them a second chance, but that seems to be more with the Basketball program. And it is a job that Eddie Sutton has been able to pull off. He has helped a lot of young men change their lives.
Tubby left Ole Miss while lying straight to their face admin and players wise.... Are you worried about your own coach and his actions?
I am more worried about my own administartion running off behind Tubby's back and trying to hire Bobby Petrino again if we go 7-5 this year. Not that I think we will go 7-5, but ya never know...
