@Kikicaca will be here with regailing tales of winning OL awards in 2019. Statically...reality..we were in the 30s. Many believe we got this award because Burrows & Brady kept the OL seated much of the 2019 season. 2020 OL was terrible by most accounts. We had the worst rushing in the modern era of football. Or is that wrong? Is James Cregg a great OL coach? If we had gone 10-2, would the people involved have sought out LSU's Cregg & presented the LSU team with the Joe Moore trophy, now going on it's unprecedented 5th year of awarding?
I genuinely don’t know how much of an effect the coach can have on the OL and to what extent he was the reason for what we saw. The OL was shit this year. At this point, there isn’t really a coach who can squeeze more out of Deculus, so I’m confident that his sacks weren’t a product of Cregg. But there were a lot of missed assignments in blitzes and I don’t know if that was Cregg’s fault or E/Linehan because protections can be a joint responsibility. I think a lot of it falls on the woefully underdeveloped running part of the playbook. I think we had a max of 5 different running plays, which falls on O and E. I’d be ok letting him walk or letting him stay another year.
We had 9 Rushing TDs this year. I've never seen that before at LSU. Dont know maybe I'm just old, but I like to see a good running game.
Haven't been impressed with the OL in years even going back to Miles. Is that the coach or is that the quality of player? Go get Faneca or Mawae, someone with some skin in the game.
I think the poor quality of OL recruits in Louisiana is an impact too. We haven’t been able to go get the quality OL recruits needed from other regions.
