True reddians can not only perceive the shades of gray, but also the color of a situation. I know you like multivariant scales.

Outstanding, now you're getting it! This only increases the probability of finding life elsewhere, don't you agree?

Jesus loves you. But Probability thinks you're being argumentative. Incomplete knowledge does not equal total ignorance. There is much that we comprehend . . . including mathematical probability

because if we werent genetically and culturally instilled with the desire to procreate then we wouldnt exist. men can father kids forever and women help in the rearing after menopause i suppose. besides, life is fun. then worm dirt.

but we dont know what life is.

and i dont put huge value on the numbers game because while there may be an infinite number of appropriately placed planets but the odds of life forming under the right conditions may also be infinitely small.

wait, but that only increases the probability that other life exists? whoops! too slow.

por supuesto, amigos. probability goes from unknown, to slighty less unknown but still unknown.

The fact that this thread exist on a site associated, no matter how loosely, with LSU or any institute of higher learning is an embarrassment.

Science is based on fact, religion is based on faith. I cherish both. Two different paradigms.

Final and absolute last comment. If you think the world is 4,000 years plus some change old, you are a kook!

thats what i am saying. i am always a bit embarrassed by people with faith. it is shameful.

what do you cherish about faith and why are you critical of those who believe evolution based on faith? how do you know when faith is a good idea? (the answer is that it never is).

The people that built this country were "people of faith" and more specifically Christian. The people that built Western Civilization were people of faith, also Christian.

What is shameful about having a belief in God, etc.? It is only a recognition of the truth.

The fact that you think a discussion of where we came from and how we got here is somehow a problem for LSU or any institute of higher learning is one of the stupidest comments I think I have ever read on this forum. That's quite a title, my friend.

Institutions of higher learning have been debating this subject for the majority of their existence on this earth. Where else do you think such a subject should be discussed, at the local marketplace?

And regarding a 4000 year old world......I don't particularly believe it but it is certainly just a reasonable as believing that living matter sprang from non-living material. (With no outside agent's help.) You want to talk about laughable or embarassing, talk about that.
