Good points, no disagreement here. But.......until Mack can deliver in the Red River Shootout, he'll continue to find himself in this situation at year's end. :bncry:
Teams make their own luck. In Texas' case, stop whining until you beat OU--even ONCE. And let's not proclaim a "toughest" division in football until after the bowl season. If AU was able to make it to the Orange Bowl and win, I would say the SEC West would be the "toughest" division--with a NC two years in a row!
If the BCS was set up to select the top 8 teams then Texas would have an argument. But it wasn't so they don't. The rules are simple, win your conference and you earn a spot. They didn't.
Man, I don't know. I love the SEC as much as anyone, but the foursome of Auburn, LSU, Alabama and Arkansas is not as good this year as Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma St. and Tx A&M. Big XII South rules the roost this season, that much is clear. What the UT Vols were in the late 1990s in the SEC East, the UT Longhorns are now in the Big XII South. Hey, look at the bright side, Texas fans: Bob Stoops is still hearing from (and, therefore, talking to) Florida. Keep the faith! (PS-Stoops to Florida, Spurrier at SCarolina, Richt at Georgia, Saban at LSU...that would be just filthy, crazy coaching talent, all in one conference.)
Texas isn't even in the same league as LSU. We beat OU they don't. They beat Ark 22-21 but we beat Ark 43-14. Texas doesn't want any part of LSU. :thumb:
At no time? What about when Texas fumbled the ball on the OU 14 yard line when it was a 0-0 game? What about when Texas had the ball on the OU 31 in field goal range before getting sacked and forced to punt? Or when they were in the same situation on the very next drive? In fact, Texas' first 5 drives ended in OU territory. I'd say for the first 3.5 quarters of the game (when it was within 0, 3, or 6 points) it looked like Texas had a shot to win it. Texas isn't making a case for the national championship game here. Texas is making a case for a BCS bowl. The "stop whining until you beat OU" argument is just plain stupid. Just because Texas lost to OU this year means that they don't deserve to be in over a 4 or 5 loss Big East team? Not surprising that this comes from the exact same person that just yesterday said that Cedric Benson rolled up all of his yardage in small games. The "if AU was able..." argument really means nothing since they won't be there and there won't be an NC two years in a row. The SEC West has 3 bowl eligible teams, one average team, and two of the worst major Div 1-A teams this year. The Big 12 South has five teams that won 7 games this season and one very bad team. Not just 5 bowl eligible, but 5 teams that were at least 7-4, along with a 10-1 and an 11-0. So Cal shouldn't go to the BCS either? Texas will have an argument as long as at-large teams are allowed into the BCS.
I guess then by your analogy we are not in the same league as Boise State, as they obliterated OSU and we snuck by in overtime.
What ever makes you feel better. If you want to admit that Boise State is better than LSU you can; I won't. Your post makes you look like the Avatar you are displaying right now. LSUDAN
