I only counted 3 as well but my track recored the last few days hasn't been so hot. Right bhelm?
So yeah, great, we have some top games. Yet all the same- and remember, I'm a flaming USC homer, out of the closet and everything- they give the Trojans way too much respect. Sorry vball, but I think you and I both agree that no one should be branded "the best defense in the nation" before a single down is played! Oh, and TCU is not "this year's Boise State." TCU has been doing what they're going to do this year for years! Boise State was last year's TCU with a little extra helping of luck.
Maybe not but it's going to be done so some team has to bear the title. Overall, I don't know if our D is the absolute best but I have no qualms about our LB crew. Rivers, Cushing, and Maualuga are getting well deserved respect. Our D line anchored by potential AA's Sed Ellis and Lawrence Jackson looks to be very solid and our secondary is experienced and fast. Defense is PC's thing-always has been and he has called this group his best, fastest, and most intense. I'd like to see our special teams D do a better job though.
Oh, you won't get me to argue, seeing as how I'm wearing those funky purple and crimson and gold bifocals. Just saying I think it's a little unfair to teams like Texas (your favorite!) and LSU that they're dismissed as less talented despite retaining just as many starters as USC and finishing in similar statistical rankings.
USC returns 18 starters (7 on offense and 10 on defense, plus the punter) from 2006. In all, 72 squadmen are back from last year, including 55 who saw playing time. All but 3 of those 55 were lettermen, while 34 were on USC's season-ending 2-deep. The only starter we lost was Dallas Sartz. Ellis and Jackson were tempted but declined the NFL draft. There is a ton of experience on our D and that may be one of the biggest reasons USC got the props. Since I don't know, how many starters does Texas return? And LSU? Is Texas really a factor this season? How relevant were they last season? Obviously LSU is but the whorns?
Solid d is a staple in Texas. There's too much talent in the state for them to not keep it. They weren't that relevant last season, but they had no experienced QB. IMHO, Colt is the real McCoy (nurr!!) and they should win the Lil XII this year. Next year they'll be in the national title game, if not this year.
LSU returns 14 starters. Fried, don't you know betta than to argue with women.......they never admit if/when they're wrong. :hihi:
Better than having Coach Croom with ummm, ummmm, hmmmmm............................................................. .......................................................................... nope, I can't think off anything MSU has.
