  2. This.

The pass defenses of the teams he played against were absolutely terrible. You can still get a feel for a QB by looking at his reads, patience, and decision making...but for people to say Jefferson is proven is a little over the top. Now Shep -- he's proven. ;)
  3. There's no way Les Miles, Gary Crowton or anyone else is gonna be able to coach Lee into being a mobile QB when the pocket collapses or a defender is bearing down on him. Jefferson's arm looks to be every bit as good as Lee's and he showed the ability to actually hit receivers running 5-10 yard routes with accuracy. I'd love to be wrong in this situation and see Lee develop into a great player and eat a healthy dose of crow. And if that happens I'll belly up to the table in front of everyone else. But I just don't see the upside of Lee over Jefferson at this point in terms of a weakness in JJ's game that Lee can exploit.

  4. I think the biggest question in all of this is will JL accept potentially being the #3 coming out of spring practices??? IMO, he wont being that the two he would be behind are the same class or younger than him. Not sure if he would take the role of waiting to see if one of the two in front of him go down...especially since he is still so young and will still have 2 years of eligibility after a transfer.
  5. Yeah, I can agree with that as well. However, some of those guys seemingly are better armed than others. We shall see.

Nonetheless, it should be a very interesting spring/summer.
  6. I was just as frustrated as anyone last year so I understand what you're saying, but he didn't transfer even after he was bood mercilessly by the LSU fans. The guy's not a quitter. I just think he would have already transferred if he was going to. Also, Crowton may be depending on Lee a lot more than we may think if he's planning on using Russell Shepard to throw from non QB positions. What would his options be if Lee transfers and Jefferson gets hurt?

By the way, am I the only one who was shamed by LSU fans booing a freshman QB who kept answering the bell by trying his best. The D laid down last year, not Lee. He was just an ineffective freshman in over his head.
  7. No you're not. I can understand and forgive a lot of fan behavior. Booing the team and players you claim to support is absolutely inexcusable IMO. That's the point of no return with me, and I want nothing to do with any so-called fans who do this. By all accounts Lee is a really great kid who was trying to make the best of a bad situation made worse by the decisions of the coaching staff. As heartbreaking as a loss is for us as fans, it's far, far worse for the players who work their tails off week in and week out.
  8. Lee is not a quitter. But I think there's a solid chance that he may transfer if JJ has a GREAT spring and Shep shows early signs of QB prowess. I think he wants to play - at LSU if possible.

The booing and the empty stands were very embarrassing. It happens elsewhere, but its tough to stomach when it's your own people doing it.

  9. You're guessing, of course. And being a mobile quarterback when the pocket collapses wasn't Lee's issue last year anyway. Throwing TD touchdown returns was the issue. That's a reading-the-defense problem and it is coachable.
  10. You are right - Lee is not a quitter; he has shown he wants to play and I hope he is able to contribute and not transfer.
