What I'm guessing at is that he won't make the quantum leap in properly reading blitzes, coverages, etc. that you think he might. What I'm pointing out is Jefferson's natural ability at least appears to be on Lee's level in this area. Lee has accuracy problems on short throws but throws a good deep ball, Jefferson is fairly accurate but needs to learn how to take something off his throws and finesse the deep ball.

With our O-line losses it certainly will be more of an issue this year. What I am not guessing on is Jefferson's natural quickness and mobility, which is an attribute that Lee lacks and is not coachable. Given the choice between 2 pocket passers, if we have to move the pocket or if the QB has to bootleg or salvage a play on a blitz, that favors Jefferson's natural ability. Will Lee learn to do things like step up in the pocket to compensate for that? Possibly, but along with his other problems he's starting the spring in a hole. I really do hope he finds a way to climb out of it. Hopefully the edge he has in experience will help him pull through.

Lee is going to provide some team with a very good Jr and Sr QB. Not everyone develops at the same time or the same rate. Very few LSU QBs have been able to successfully start as Frosh - RS or not.

He better get on his horse if he wants to start at LSU, though. The line has formed and it's getting longer every Feb....

Do you really consider Jefferson to be a pocket passer?

He's not seasoned enough (at the collegiate level) nor do I think he knew the playbook enough last season to stand in the pocket. It's much easier to roll a QB out and let him make a play.. less reads.

I think a year or two down the road he'll be a legit pro-style QB.. who just happens to have above-average mobility.

I think if he's our starter in the fall he needs to take as few of those licks like he took in the Chick-Fil-A bowl as possible. He'll know more of Crowton's option package but for his own longevity he needs to become one. He doesn't have the size or strength of someone like Tebow for example, so I'd try to keep his running to a minimum.

Coming out of high school, wasn't he placed in the pro style classification of QB's by Rivals?

I wish him the best of luck in his transfer. I could help him I have a 24 ft enclosed trailer. he will make a dandy QB somewhere, anywhere but LSU.

    good luck to him..
