1. Mobile? I thought he was from Destrehan...

  2. All of you wanting Lee to transfer, think of this.

If Jefferson is the starter and goes down, you have a true freshman who by all accounts probably isn't a true QB, but more of a Percy Harvin type.

Is that what you're looking forward to? Remember, Jamarcus Russell struggled horribly as a redshirt freshman, and he was the #1 pick by the time he was a senior.

    LSU needs Lee.
  3. Exactly. Those calling for Lee to transfer are calling for LSU to be thin at Quarterback once again. Are you serious! How in the world does that help LSU. :insane:
  4. Again, a case of one QB having an attribute (in Jamarcus' case, size) to compensate for other deficiencies. Lee is a pure pocket passer, he doesn't have blazing speed or the size to be a bruiser when he has to scramble.
As I said earlier, LSU needs him to be a reliable backup QB, or as someone to occasionally split time and help out Jefferson if/when he struggles against good teams. But if Shepard works out as a Wildcat or option/scrambling second option to Jefferson, it would probably be in Lee's best interests to transfer to a smaller school for his junior year if he wants to pursue a football career.
  5. I hear what you are saying, but if Jefferson goes down, then you need Lee as the backup. As great as Shep will be, he wont be a fulltime backup QB next year as a true freshman. I just dont see that happening, he will get snaps, but having Lee as the true backup is to the advantage of LSU.
  6. Maybe I was a little ambiguous, but I agree. I'm talking about a possible transfer for the 2010 (not '11) season, provided Shepard develops into a viable backup in 2009 (not '10) and isn't used primarily as a Harvin-like all-purpose back as a previous poster said.

  8. I don't see how I'm crawfishin on this one buddy. Go back and read the beginning of the thread.
  9. Just messin, I just think Lee has a lot of guts have kept answering the bell last year. I think he'll still develop as he matures. I think the criticism directed at Lee should have been directed at last years defense, because unlike Lee, the ones that flat out quit were not freshmen thrown to the wolves. I think Chavis will straighten all this out. And I think that if most LSU fans would think about this analytically they wouldn't boo him or call for his transfer. ( don't know if you are in that crowd or not, I kinda think not)

ps. I do agree with the suggestion from the visor thread that a visor would have helped Lee out tremendously last year. No argument here that he threw way too many pick 6's. Just sayin that fans that are calling for his transfer are not thinking things through and are being way too hard on the kid.

Miles obviously doesn't think like this or the QB competition wouldn't be wide open like Miles stated. As much as I cringe when Miles tries to say nothing by speaking nonsense at post game press conferences, I don't think his statements about the QB position were coachspeak at all.

All things having been said, I was still mostly messin with you about the crawfish pic. They've been on my mind a lot lately. $2.89/lb boiled in Abita this week.:).
  10. There's no question the kid's got guts. I don't think there are very many of us who could handle pressure that intense, and he was also not helped by poor coaching decisions. There's also no question that some of the defensive players quit, but it was also obvious that the majority of them had no idea what they were supposed to be doing out on the field most of the time.

It wouldn't have mattered if Lee threw 50 pick-6's last season, you don't boo your QB. I think it would be a mistake for him to transfer before the upcoming season, because there's clearly a role for him on the team if he doesn't get the start, and honestly, we may still see a lot more of him splitting time with Jefferson. If Lee doesn't separate himself from the pack this season, I think whether he transfers or not (after the '09 season) is going to depend in large part on what the coaches decide to do with Shepard and his progression. If they're happy using him as a back/slot receiver Lee would make for a good, seasoned backup. If Shepard is going to be groomed to be a true QB behind Jefferson, then he'd have a more productive football career at a smaller school where he could start. He may do that regardless rather than being a career backup.

Wow, I may have to make a trip down there this weekend for a couple of sacks. :thumb:
