Miles made about $1.9 mil this past season. Why on earth do any of you think that is not enough?

His contract is very clear. Win championships and he'll be guaranteed to have one of the top salaries in all of college football.

Win 10+ games w/o any championships and he'll continue to be very well compensated.

Just because one SEC school went nuts in paying their coach doesn't mean we should follow suit.

In an article in yesterdays Daily Oklahoman, Barry Switzer (talking about the rumors of Bob Stoops going to Dallas) said his sources inside the Cowboys org. told him that the chances of Jones going to the college ranks was "Slim and none"!

LSU got $17 million from the Sugar Bowl. Fla. got $17 Million from the BCS game and the conference as a whole, split 13 ways, got roughly $45 million total from all the bowls.

Not saying you're wrong, but where did you get those #'s? It is my understanding that when a conference has more than 1 team in the BCS, the second team brings far less than the first, and also, that whatever the teams bring in is split evenly between the conferences schools.

It's amazing how misinformed some people are about bowl payouts. I don't know exactly what we got but what I do know is that BCS money goes to the conference and is divided evenly. There is always one SEC team in the BCS and the second team only gets 4.5 (I think that's the number). Therefore, dividing 4.5 by 13 comes up with about 350k. Out of that CLM got about 1/3. So essentially, he got 1/3 of the money he brought into the school through the bowl game. Doesn't seem like a bad deal. And by the way 1.9 mill is a very healthy salary for someone who has never won a conference championship. Not knocking what he's doing because I think the guy is great but we have to put it in perspective.

I very well could be wrong about the Tigers getting $17 million from the Sugar Bowl but that is the amount published in the paper each day listing the payouts. ALL revenue (bowl money, Basketball Tourney money, Baseball playoffs, etc. after expenses for the participating schools) are put into a pool and divided up 13 ways-one part for each conference school and 1 part for the conference office-at the end of the school year.

Here is the SEC formula for the National Championship Game. It also has some other interesting financial stuff in it, assuming the information is correct.
