my 2 ยข is that skyler aint all that (really, just relative to bowe, davis and doucet). use him as the 4th wr. i dont think josh reed was a particularly good route runner, but he was aggressive in going for the ball, was great after the catch, and most importantly really had a knack for going back for the underthrown ball. back then dbs werent coached how to d that play. randy moss made so much noise doing that, now those routes are called and defended.
Nice point about throwing short. I may be talking about something else. When I speak of a route runner I mean a receiver that will get off of the line, put the DB in a bad position and then get separation while arriving at a designated area on time. Josh used his hips, his feet, his head, his elbows to turn a DB and get separation. IMO he was the best since Wendell Davis. (13 passes in a row from Hodson v. Ole Miss...how difficult must it have been to get open the 13th time in a row?) Strange how the two best receivers at LSU both played on SEC Championship teams, while Faulk and Alexander never brought one home.
