But the problem (if one could ever call it a "problem") is that when you have a coach that brings you to the CWS two-straight years, and makes the NCAA regionals--and consistantly advances to the Super Regionals, you won't find an AD in America that will fire their coach. For all the "Anti-Smoke-ers" out there, just accept the fact that Smoke will remain our coach until he starts fielding a team that remains outside of the top 25, or worse, starts failing to make the regionals. ...and I don't want to see our program decline that much just to see Smoke fired. To want that to happen is to be evil! I've been a little critical about our talent depth, but I do recognize that for all his "perceived faults", Smoke has done nothing this year but win the SEC West, and complete another regular season of Tiger baseball with our team ranked in the top 10. Is that a reason to fire a coach???? I certainly don't think so.
I agree with you on that, but lets just say the end of the year comes with us not getting out of our regional with home field advantage. Then what? IMO i think there will be many people lining up to write on the wall for Skip to start reading the Smoke signals coming out of Alex Box.
I think some people won't be happy unless we win titles in all sports at all times, I'm sure some of those calling for Smoke's head are the same that were calling for Skips head. You know if people (fans) feel a person like Skip needed to be run off after all he did for LSU nobody stands a chance at LSU. I know people want the best for LSU but each sport season we have a coach that people want to run off, to me it's getting out of hand. I guess we should fire Coach Les Miles now before he can ever loose a game at LSU? :dis:
C'mon!!! Curly Hallman would have LOVED if they were mediocre. "Mediocrity" is what the Boston College Eagles have: A team that sticks near the top 25, occassionally cracking it, but nothing higher than a ranking of 16th and second-tier bowl game appearances in games like the Motor City Bowl, Music City Bowl, etc., but their fans are perfectly happy with that. ..... Archer might have been mediocre, but The Hallman years were down-right aweful (ZERO BOWL GAMES!!! Not EVEN those "mediocre" Music City Bowls).... A Capital One appearance is hardly "mediocre" if you lose...Win or lose, it's STILL a great accomplishment. Sure you want to win those, and it's not always easy to find a silver lining when you don't, but if the only thing that makes you happy is to always "win the big one", then you must be disappointed a whole lot...
Boy, am I going to have some fun during the week between our Super Regional win and our 1st CWS game. Unfortunately, all of the crybabies will be nowhere to be found.
not long after his 3rd NC. PLENTY..."the game had passed him by". even more after the 4th NC. After we lost to Tulane in the SR these same idiots were ready for him to go.
