So, did LSU underachieve?

Calco, I officially give up. I'm sure after Auburn, we would have lost all or most of our games had we been in the SEC.

Since we beat Oklahoma in 2004 and then lost to Texas in 2006, I guess the players must have gotten a pay cut in 2005.

Honestly, if you have some proof that USC paid Reggie Bush money then please provide it so we can all move on.

We are content to do this (play our conference schedule) because the formula works (us '03, florida '06) and your system works for you (usc'04) so I guess until they change the formula we're both content haha. Well, I think I finally understand completely where your coming from. You really arn't defending the Pac-10 so much as you defend USC and their individual SOS year in and year out, which I definately believe is a legit argument on your part. We like to argue for the strength of the conference as a whole year in and year out and how they relates into our individual SOS year in and year out. 2 seperate and different angles we use to reach a common goal.

Yea talk about Irony, I bet JR and Mike will have a good laugh about the '03 season and quite possibly a few comments made on both sides from that year. It kinda reminds me of high school ball where 2 individual stand out stars might be hated rivals for 2 different schools. That is until you make it to the collegiate level and suddenly your wearing the same uniform and working for the same team.

Yes I will also be pulling for you to make it to New Orleans this year so we can all have a bit of closure on this 4 year "Cold war of words" that we have had the pleasure of enjoying with ya'll since '03. Unfortunately, it still would have been so much easier if they would have just let us have at it like both schools would have agreed on for a charity event and the NCAA would not allow it.

I think Calco didn't have to "go there" with the money business and the burden of having to prove wether or not anyone was being paid. I would have just left that part out completly and just gone with his main argument, which is I believe is a legitament argument. Cmon just give us an ounce of credit, I did with your argument, playing Auburn is not the same as playing Auburn plus those other teams. obviously he is not saying you would lose all of them, just not sure you go undefeated. Think about it this way, whoever you lose too,(if it's just one) it looks alot better than Cal that year.

On a personal note, I'm actually planning a trip to LA late this summer to visit some friends and would like to visit the USC campus. What's the best things to see on campus noteworthy of a stop? Obviously, I would like to check out the trojan statue and the trophy room to see what the other '03 "championship" trophy looks like (haha). Also, where are the practice fields in relationship to campus? Also I'm not trying to sound like i'm going into a combat zone or something haha (but more as you might ask me the best way to get to the french quarter in NO without going to the ninth ward), what is the main route to take without getting too far into the wrong side of South Central? Lastly, you can rest easy, I will be very respectful on campus just like I would faithfully trust you would if/when you would visit our lovely campus.

p.s. although I might have to bring a lsu item or 2 with me to incorporate into a couple good pics haha.

Do you mean the 2003 year when:
Auburn lost @ home to USC 23-0
Fla was 8-5 and lost by 20 to Iowa
Bama got beat by Northern Illinois and Hawaii
The year Arky squeaked into the Independence Bowl
the year Tenn got hammered by Clemson

Yep, it woulda been tough for USC to run the table that year... for sure:wink: !

    LOL...
I think the question was about USC's ability to run the table in the SEC in 2003.
But, now that you brought it up... yes, the Hawkeyes beat Ben Rothlesberger's Miami, Ohio team that year... it was Mia(O)'s only loss that year.... they finished ranked in the top 15, beating Louisville 49-28 in their bowl game... yes, the same Louisville that had beated Kentucky 40-24 that year... also Ben R would then go 7 games as the Steeler starter before suffering a loss... quite a streak he had as a QB.

too funny.... btw, is playing Buffalo anything like Maine beating MSU... hell, at least we won!!!!!

With Donovan, I think credit goes to the coach. Florida didn't have a basketball tradition before him, and players went to play for Donovan, not the coach. Before Donovan arrived, there wasn't a lot of talent at Florida.

With Meyers, I think credit goes to Florida. Florida had a great football program in place, and Zook had stockpiled a lot of great talent that had now matured as juniors and seniors. You put a decent coach in there, and they would have succeeded. Whereas, if you had Meyers at another program, he would have been a bad hire. For example, no way could he pulled off what Weis has done at ND. Meyers didn't think he could turn around the program, and that's why he didn't want the ND job. He wanted a number of academic exemptions, for players who normally couldn't meet ND's standards, but the University turned him down.

I would put those teams on the field with USC that year and bet that one of them would have given USC a loss.

And dont include the upper echelon that year hawker because it might take away from your point.

And in a Rematch that year i bet Auburn would have posted a victory as well.

You can kiss that USC tail if you want hawker but i will see them for what they are.

The Raiders could learn from USC on how much to pay players !!!

If Jamarcuss gets one of those USC agents he will be well compensated.
My advice to Jamarcuss is to go hang out in the USC football locker room because that is where all the best agents are!!!

Its hard to believe Stewart Mandel could rise to such a position in the journalistic world with such a kindergarten understanding of what it takes to win a championship. The record for most #1 draft picks off of one team is the 2003 Miami Hurricanes, with 6. They weren't even in the hunt for the BCS title that year. It was won by LSU, which had one #1 pick that season (Clayton), and two more off the starting lineup in subsequent seasons (Spears and Landry).

... and yes... you see them for what they are... is that as opposed to seeing them for what you are?   ... your SEC loyalty will never be questioned.
