Thanks for a great read 99. I have a personal link to the Temple family. When Collis Jr. started playing for  in '71, my mom told me: "I saw him when he was a baby" Turns out that Collis Sr. owned a general country store just outside Kentwood that my mom's family lived right next to. My mom saw Collis Jr. on the front porch of the store in his mother's arms. My parents came from very humble beginnings, my mom was born on a farm just outside Kentwood and my dad was born in a converted railroad boxcar just outside Kentwood 10 years earlier. My mom's oldest brother actually met Collis Jr. at an NBA game when he played and talked with him during warm-ups for 15-20 minutes. CT Jr. was very pleased to talk with someone from his old stomping grounds. I am proud to know that my mom knew and grew up next to the Temple family. I am even prouder that Collis Temple turned out to be a GREAT patriarch for us. He did  good twice. When he played and by the legacy that he has left his alma mater. THANK YOU COLLIS TEMPLE JR. :thumb: :geauxtige
After reading all of the stories in recent years about rich boosters bringing in talent with $$$$, it really is refreshing to read about somebody that did it the old-fashioned way. By raising the talent. CT Jr. did all of this for love. Love for his sons. Love for his sons teammates. Love for the game. And most importantly for all Tiger fans - for the love of his alma mater for bringing all of these talented young men to  . :thumb: :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
God Bless the Temple family. Their contribution is so much more than sports. Great to see the Temple family getting recognized.
Stories like this make LSU a special place for everyone who is a fan. These group of young men that represent LSU demonstrate such great pride in their school and community. I hope they stick together and all graduate and help turn LSU into a great basketball school. I can just picture next season with all these guys back in purple and gold. It gives me goosebumps thinking about how much potential these guys have.
And ANOTHER great article about CT Jr. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/tourney06/2006-03-31-lsu-family-legacy_x.htm I have never been prouder to be a ldskule: in my 49 years on this planet. :thumb: :geauxtige
I met Collis Temple Jr and III when I was about 16. Seems as though me and a friend were "trespassing" on his land near where my friend lived. They came out...just to talk and just said to make sure we didnt' get into trouble and left it at that. Real nice man...
