I think the above is the best synopsis of our QB situation yet.

I'm one of few on this board that actually did see improvement in JJ during the spring game, and it gives me hope for him considering that they only had, what, 15 practices with CSK before the game. If he can continue to progress, a lot of us may be very surprised come the fall.

One thing that didn't get a lot of talk around here was JJ's wheels. He looked to be almost a full step faster than I've ever seen him before during the spring game. He also made the decision to tuck it & run much quicker. Miles was talking a lot about his speed during the spring, saying that he was running with the RBs in practice. And I could definitely see what he was talking about. So that is one element of the game that gives him an advantage over the other guys on the roster (except for Jerrard Randall). He could be very dangerous on the read option if he gets it down pat.

"Lee, Mr. Pick 6, that was a long time ago, but he always looks good in practice but collapses under game pressure."

Lee definitely collapsed under pressure when he threw a perfect fade to Terrance Tolliver in the end zone for the go ahead TD against Florida. A complete and utter meltdown, if you ask me.

Lee does fairly good when he has protection. When he gets a pass rush in his face the results ain't pretty.

I can see Mett gain significant playing time, but I have a hard time believing he will become the full-time starter at any point this season.

    b_leblanc That's just my game...

So your argument is ONE pass? I'm so sorry, how silly of me. Maybe you should go ahead and anoint him "St. Starter" now. How many times has he done that again? Go back and look at the game film. He's had more meltdowns than perfect TD passes, that's for damn sure. Even the sun shines on a dog's ass sometimes.

I won't mind seeing Jefferson run the option inside the red zone. He can be dangerous down there as a runner if has any passing game at all to keep them from keying on him. Else everybody will stack the line against Jefferson and dare him to throw. Just like last year.

I have no confidence in him passing his way down the field, however. I think we are going to see two quarterbacks a lot this year, especially early.

That could work, provided our red zone offense no longer consists of 80% fade routes.

The bowl game was most likely a 1 game abberation. Sad to say.

My point is that he had some good games last year and increasing better from the start and it wasn't just one game. His best game last year QB rating wise and completion % and yards was against Ole Miss. The Bama game was also better than the bowl game. Arkansas game was also just where we needed him offensively.

1st 2 Months of the season he had an 84 QB Rating
Closed out the season with 153.28

    Bama 193.41
    Ole Miss 209.62
    Arkansas 116.51
    A&M 164.05

Only game of note from the beginning of the year was the 1st game where he had 153.74 and over 70% completion %
