that's true. i can't believe that LSU people are actually discrediting a national championship won by us? Jesus if we can learn anything, and i mean anything from Bama people. Don't discredit yourself on purpose. Just do that without knowing like they do.
No, Im saying Miles asked Crowton to run an offense based on what Miles wanted. Basically blend some of Crowtons spread with Miles Big 10 run philosophy. Either Miles thought Crowton could adapt or Crowton sold him a bill of goods saying he could change. Neither scenario was the basis for a good decision. Spread guys and balanced guys are diametrically opposed philosophies. Crowton has always been a spread guy. What made Miles think he could change that? There is clearly no history with Crowton that would show it. I guess Miles figured he could break new ground and breed a hybrid type OC. Who the he11 knows.
gotcha, that's an interesting perspective and I can definitely see that. Thanks for clearing that up... :thumb: :geauxtige
And his offense with the Chicago Bears? Do you think he was running the spread option in the NFL? Miles hired him for his versatility and ability to succeed with different kinds of QBs (Tim Rattay and Dennis Dixon). It's not Miles holding Crowton back, it's himself. For whatever reason, he just can't seem to improve his offenses from year to year.
It's not a great mystery. He simply has no clue how to properly develop QBs. To not believe that is to think that not one, but two, QBs recruited by LSU don't have the tools to effectively run an SEC offense, even after a year's worth of experience each. They may yet surprise, but it's looking more and more like we've seen the upper limit of what they can do on the field. And there's only one common denominator there.
BYU's offensive #s Crowton's 1st 3 years yds per game, national rank '01 = 217.85 rush / 325.00 pass / 542 total (# 1 overall) '02 = 121.08 rush / 260.75 pass / 381.83 total (# 50 overall) '03 = 99.58 rush / 215.00 pass / 314.58 total (# 102 overall) LSU's offensive #'s Crowton's 1st 3 years '07 = 214.14 rush / 225.29 pass / 439.43 total (# 26 overall) '08 = 166.77 rush / 201.31 pass / 368.08 (# 55 overall) '09 = 122.77 rush / 181.77 pass / 304.54 total (# 112 overall) this is an eerie as phuck coincidence if this ain't Crowton's baby
No that cannot be right. Clearly what happened is we ran Crowton's offense in 2007 and won the NC, but Miles was not happy with that result and handcuffed Crowton so we would have a better want to compete.
