Well, I'm not saying they're not deserving of it, especially in that case. But I also believe in adhereing to the rules and the system in place, even being as flawed as it is, it's the rules.

The AP do the right thing? Not gonna happen.

Because last year they were mad because their #1 darling USC didn't meet the requirements of the system to make it to the big show.... Auburn is #3 and that would be the AP's excuse. And no matter how sloppy the Orange Bowl is, one thing's for sure.... if USC wins it (even barely at all) then they will remain the AP's darling. If Oklahoma wins, they will put USC in the #2 spot... even if Oklahoma shuts them out by half a hundred.... Unfortunate at best, but that's the way it is I'm afraid.

How on earth can anybody rank a 1-loss USC or OU over an undefeated Auburn?

Wow, didn't think my expectations of AU would exceed that of an Auburn fan. Funny things can happen in big-time bowl or championship games. Even the most die-hard LSU fan didn't expect to pound Georgia by 21 points in last year's SEC CG, for example.

Also, for the first and only time this season, Auburn has the national stage all to itself Monday night. If they play the sort of complete game that produced a big win in Knoxville earlier this year and the score reflects their dominance, I bet the headlines going into Orange Bowl Tuesday will be about how impressive AU looked in the Sugar Bowl.

If the Orange Bowl is underwhelming and OU wins, well...never say never, I say.

I know if it were LSU in Auburn's situation right now, I'd hold on to hope until the last vote is cast next week.

Uh, you are aware of the fact that, while the coaches have to vote the winner of the BCS Championship Game #1, they do NOT have to vote the loser #2.

Last year, the coaches voted USC number two in the final, post bowl poll .

So again, I ask, why would any sane person even remotely think a 1-loss USC or a 1-loss OU would finish above a 13-0 Auburn team?

I know Va Tech is a good team, but Auburn in my eyes is the best team in the Nation.
Not sucking up to the local AU fans either, knowing the SEC and seeing what Auburn did they beat Va Tech by 10...

But again I just had to re-up my account on sportsbook.com as well, so I dont think I will be opening up a 1-900-TEXASTIGERS betting line anytime soon ;)

If Auburn finishes undefeated they should just declare themselves National Champions. Southern California did just that last year and they are referred to as Co-National Champions even though they did not make it into the BCS championship game. Some poll somewhere will name AU number one, maybe the Muscle Shoals newspaper.

Hell, Alabama claims a National Championship for every year that they finished undefeated and a couple of others, as well. Why not Auburn?

I say: First beat VT. Then order the rings and buy the NC T-shirts!
