1. What!? One of these clowns thinks that anyone in the PAC-10 could beat any team in the country on any given day... give me a break man, Jesus! It's sad to say it, but if LSU doesn't dominate this team from top to bottom, we'll have failed the test. As good as ASU *could* be, I don't think they'd be better than the 'middle of the pack' if they were in the SEC. Hell, USC wouldn't even go undefeated in the SEC, and would really be a comparable team to LSU, imo. Don't tell the west-coasters, but I like to think that we're just a little more football crazed here in the south... Early prediction (perhaps WAY too early) LSU-35 ASU-17
  2. Ah, didn't Auburn just do it.

Having watched the Hawks get split in two by ASU last year, I'd be a little more cautious. LSU should win, but it could be a very tough game. As an outsider, I see ASU with a confident QB and an offense intact.... playing a national contender at home who has all the tools, but has yet to establish a dominant QB or a high degree of confidence in their passing game. Again, I think you'll win at home, but playing teams with their "offensive ducks in a row" in September isn't always fun and games.
  3. autzen is/was very loud for the # of fans, but not as loud as tiger stadium, or the swamp or jordan-hare, but louder than bryant-denney. its all in the shape of the stadium.

our receivers havent proven themselves--by a long shot.

i think theyre right about lsu still regarded as a flash in the pan nationally. a lot of programs have a great few years but cant sustain it.

i wouldnt put a dollar on asu straight up.
  4. Wow, i was JUST reading your response on the ASU board. Sure it's controversial, but I think Auburn was simply better than USC last season. It's all speculation, and we'll never know the truth, but just seeing how the SEC is so physical doesn't bode well for USC being in the SEC. That pretty much goes for ANY major conference too, not just the SEC. Put USC with the big boys (Big 12, Big 10, ACC,) and they're just another mediocre team, again imo. Also you can't compare what Iowa did to ASU versus what Iowa did to LSU, those were totally different situations.
  5. If you read my ASU post, you'll see that the first thing I said was we were two different teams when we played ASU and LSU.

I also said LSU should win at home. The only thing ASU has going is they have an passing offense that is confident and in a position to win against a "better" national contending team that may not have all the kinks worked out by September... And that does give ASU a chance.

I guess I jsut have more respect for opponents... particularly any that are half good and you have to play them early... to me that's a scary scenario.... that's all.
  6. I think anyone who spews the SEC is the real deal and all other conferences and teams are crap keeps there head in the sand. They play real football out west as we saw last September. I'm afraid of ASU, we need to play much better than we did last year vs OSU or we will be in for a shock. Arizona St has plenty of talent and runs a good offense. Their defense will be new, the guy from Miami and UF is there now, Miller.

Hawk45, I have to disagree with your statmeent about ASU being pretty well set on offense and at QB while saying we aren't and never found our QB. JR was just as good in the bowl game as Keller was and he has the benefit of more experience. Plus there running attack was not too good last year and there is not a lot of evidence that it will be better this year. We'll see.
  7. Cajdav... If your QB plays next year like he finished in the CapOne, you guys will be in Pasadena.
  8. Don't buy it. I understand the dislike of USC as a result of the 2003 controversy, but to suggest they'd be a medicore team in the SEC is fooling yourself.

They beat Auburn in 2002 and 2003. They manhandled OU in the championship game last year, which was basically the same OU team we beat by 7 a year earlier.

They'll play Arkansas this year, so we'll see how well an SEC team fares against them.

  9. against Iowa hopefully. can't say I would rather any other team unless its someone I hate.
  10. Gotta give USC thier due for handling AU two years straight, even they didn't meet the year we would have all prefered. Woulda been weird pulling for AU with every sincere bone in me.

It will be interesting to see what Ark can do. Prepare for "we beat an SEC team" bragging if USC wins. Unfortunately, I don't see Ark giving them much of a game. No Jones = no team for a coupla years. That they didn't fall flat on their faces last year with, what, 19 starters? completing their eligibility the year before is truly remarkable though, so I'd never count the Nut out. If USC comes into the game with the attitude we had against OSU last year, it could be interesting.

Which brings me to the ASU game. VaTech, OSU. . . ASU?
