I'm sure it was harder than some may think. Croyle was wearing rib protection pads, so if Landry's hit hurt him it must have been hard. Regardless if it didnt look hard, it was sure nice to see him on the ground.
I think the Advocate had a pic of it yesterday. He definitely creamed him and used both the forearm and shoulder. Brodie will be pissing blood for a couple of days after that hit. Had Brodie not turned around, he may not have gotten up from that one.
Here's the video clip: http://www.lsusports.net/fls/5200/lesmiles/UA_Landry.mpg There are also other clips from the Bama game and other games on lesmiles.net, just click on 2005 Season.
Thanks. Man what a hit. It almost looks like someone sped up the video right before the hit. You can't tell me that play didn't make a difference in the outcome of the game. It put the fear of God in ole number 12. :hihi:
The thing I also notice about this play, after watching it several times, is how similar this blitz looks to what Saban used to do. Watch Bama's left guard and halfback both look to block up on the right side, because of the threat of two linebackers blitzing that side. It opens up the hole between the left guard and left tackle for LaRon to come in scott-free. Great job LaRon, great job Pelini, great job Miles for hiring Pelini, and great job by all the coaches for making the halftime adjustments. :geauxtige
How did you find this clip on the LSUsports.net site? I tried to find it by going to the homepage, hoping there were other clips with it but couldn't find it...
It's actually on LSU's website for Les Miles (www.lesmiles.net). Here's the link to some other plays from the Bama game, including the game-winning touchdown pass to Bowe http://www.lesmiles.net/athletics/lesmiles.nsf/$Content/Plays+of+the+Week?OpenDocument
