The Sopranos has always been about hanging threads and mixing the expected with the unexpected. The episode was a little weak, but I didn't mind the ending. It's a cliffhanger for a movie.

Does Silvio live? Is Paulie trying to retire, turning down a second crew which would make him the underboss? When will AJ finally commit suicide? Will Tony do Dr. Melfi, now that she's not his therapist? Will Carmella do Furio? Which of the two suspicious restaurant characters is a hit man and which one is an FBI undercover agent. Will Tony be able to hit his flipped capo, Carlo Gervasi, before he testifies?

Is Junior faking his dementia to get out of incarceration? "What do you want, a fugging boutonniere?"

    Two Things:

Tony Soprano always said if you were getting whacked, you wouldn't see it coming or feel it, everything would just go black (or something to that effect).

Also, didn't you guys hear what was playing on the jukebox? "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey? I don't think that was by accident.

For the record and like others have stated, I don't think he got whacked. I think they're setting us up for the movie.

You see my point thought, right? Symbolism. I think it still works with that song.

I wanted to throw something at my TV. I guess it all but confirms that there will be a movie, at least to wrap up all the loose ends.

Like someone else said was a great ending from the "buzz" perspective, but I still hate finalies with no closure.

What this show has always made me crave is a new good mafia movie.. something in the tradition of the Godfather(s), Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco, Scarface... Something epic... Its been a long time since something great has been made...

yeah maybe i'm simple headed but i''m a big fan of the animal house/hot for teacher endings that tell you what happen to all the characters later in life.

this was a theory e mailed to me concerning the characters in the diner....

The guy at the bar is also credited as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn't that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil's brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident. David Chase is rewarding the true fans who pay attention to detail.

So the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy scouts were in the train store and the black guys at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2 or 3?).

[SIZE=+0]There were three people in the restaurant who had reason to kill Tony and then it just ends. This was Chase's way of proving that he will not escape his past.

I don't think we will ever see a movie, but I think what we will get when the final season comes out on dvd is a bonus feature with an alternate ending, maybe a few alternate endings. Who knows?

Bottom line: David Chase did stay true to the show. It took me all of today and listening to alot of different opinions on the radio to realize it, or come to grips with it, you might say.

yeah that was spreading around but i read on one of the soprano's boards that it's false. the shady italian in the members only jacket was the actual owner of the diner where the last scene was shot. he's never been in any previous episodes and tony shot one of the black guys head off years ago.. i forgot what they said about the trucker..
