Not good That makes me ill. He was such a threat running the ball. "Some soreness." I guess there's hope.
That kind of "the sky is falling" attitude is NOT what LSU, or any team anywhere needs from its fans. The season could be over before it starts? What are you talking about? Saban has been preaching about perseverance in the face of adversity, and playing for four quarters, since he got here. That mantra is as applicable to the fans as it is to the team. I for one am very confident in Matt Mauck this season, and the team as a whole. "Some soreness" in the foot does not mean he can't play. So lets stay confident and keep a POSITIVE attidtude. LSU will be SEC Champs this season. We've got a veteran line on both sides of the ball, talented skill position players all over the place, and as favorable a schedule as we could ever ask for. Its going to be a good year. Geaux Tigers!
My problem is not with your assessment of our QB situation. I agree with you. And even if I didn't, you're entitled to your opinion. My point is that negativity from the fan base isn't helpful, and ultimately, it actually hurts the team. People need to stay positive until there's a very compelling reason not to. I'm sorry if I offended you, really. But, like I said, I think the attidtude of the fans makes a difference.
Don't know why.....but I am a student at South Alabama, so I think its kinda cool. But I have no idea why he is wearing it, maybe he know someone or is related to someone on the team. Or maybe he just found the shirt.........who knows????
This whole Mauck v Randall at QB thing is getting old. There is not one shred evidence that Mauck will do better than Randall or vice versa. To assume that if we don't have Mauck the season could be doomed is ludicrous. How one performed in the spring game doensn't mean shit. If you want to go by that though, then Randall had a hell of lot better spring game than Mauck. Unless one or the other DRASTICALLY improves over last year......then the whole QB situation is in trouble. Unless one of the frosh step up big time.
You're basing Mauck's ability on handling SEC pressure on 1 game that he didn't start. Don't think we know enough to say that he is LSU's savior. Same goes for the frosh. We can speculate all we want to on this board, but the people who are being paid to determine who the QB should be are the only ones who know what's REALLY going on. I have faith that they will do their jobs well as they have been doing - in fact, they are the only ones we can evaluate as to their abilites as we have had 3 years to see what Saban and Co. can do. We've had only 5 or 6 games for either Mauck or Randall. Regardless of how either QB has done, I think we've seen much more consistency from the coaching staff that they will field the best options for LSU to start the season and make necessary adjustments as time goes on.
WE had better hope and pray Mauck or whoever does Better then Randall did last year. (Randall Included)
Gorilla is right in saying the fans need to keep a positive attitude. LSU football has always been so up and down and I think the players feel that "sky is falling" mentality from the fans sometimes (and then it snowballs). There may be some reason for concern about Mauck's foot but I feel better about the QB position this year. I hope Flynn or Russell gets early experience so they can stagger their classes and play if needed. Also, everyone seems to forget that Ricard and Harrison? have over a year in Jimbo's system. Last, if you look Randall's stats in the last two games (Ark & Ole Miss), he had 3 TD's, 0 INT's with a 60% completion. In the first half of the Cotton Bowl, Randall looked like our QB of the future. How significant was his leg injury? I guarantee Jimbo will have more than one QB ready to play.
It dosen't bother me at all that Mauck wore a South Alabama shirt. SA dosen't even have a football team. If he was wearing an Alabama or an Auburn Shirt I would be worried.
Are you saying that Mauck didn't start against Florida last year in "the swamp"? I certainly thought I saw him start and do "pretty well".
