Where in there did I actually attack Miles? I didn't. I just wanted improvement on offense...which wasn't exactly something crazy to ask for.

...and even if it turns out to have no legs for at least Miles' part... it is still going to serve as a distraction to Miles and possibly some members of the team.

 

You're forgetting how much the NCAA craves attention and money...and also how completely incompetent Mark Emmert is. If he can make money through fines, be seen as the "savior of the day", and shore up his image by going with the will of media/public opinion... Emmert will do anything.

Despite all the public proclamations of support from the board of directors, you can bet he's on extremely thin ice. He may be incompetent as president, but his time at LSU attests to the fact that he isn't stupid. He won't risk career/reputation suicide without a smoking gun.

Sanctions/settlements, sanctions/probation, and sanctions/probation. Of those three, Penn State was a criminal investigation, while Oh St and SC were held accountable for fairly recent goings on, not some shit from literally 10yrs ago that was based solely on the hearsay of disgruntled former players.

They didn't "drop the ball" so much as they couldn't prove jack shit definitively, mainly due to the accusations being so far in the past.
