They got what they deserved...I have been jumped on my 3 guys from behind. The aftermath wasn't good. I suffered a concussion (sp?), broken nose, right eye was swollen shut, and my bottom teeth went through my lip. I would have done the same thing if I would have had something to do it with...

So would you stand outside a frat house baiting the occupants, trying to see if you could start something? Or if you were inside, would you feel that you had to take matters into your own hands because you were so "bad"? The first guy shouldn't have been trying to start something, and the AU guys should have just called the police. If either party had been sensible, everyone would be getting along with their lives today.

Using deadly force is understandable if you were randomly attacked, but when you help instigate the situation, I think a jury is less likely to be sympathetic.

Like I said, only they know what happened...Could have been a disorderly Bama fan or just one that was yelled at for having Bama clothes on and he yelled back with a "Roll Tide".

He shouldn't have been outside baiting them for one if that's what happened...But I find it hard to believe ANY fan would go up to an opposing teams frat house talking crap...by himself...

...If this was the case, either he's an idiot or had WAY too much to drink!

Here is the best spin I have seen on this.

What happened was wrong. I hope they catch the guy.

This Bama fan must have a set of iron balls, he'll be a legend in Tuscaloosa once his identity is known. You stroll up to an Auburn frat house and leave seven barners in your wake, classic. He must have picked the pansiest greeks on campus.

I see this on a parallel with the tail on the barner van gettin burnt at Arkansas. You should be able to drive your ridiculously outlandish vehicle to a game and you should be able to yell "Roll Tide" at a frat house without worrying about property damage or violence, or should you?

Despite the tacky humor I pray all the injured make a full and speedy recovery.

I think you are on target. We don't know if the fan was outside taunting, trying to provoke a reaction. A simple "I won't say it", said in passing should be taken as nothing more than typical fan bluster. I will say that AU frats have a rep for being more than a little aggressive. I, myself, had my car attacked for using an AU frat's driveway to turn around.

The best venue I ever saw (many years ago) for opposing fans was Commerce Street in Dallas for the ut\ou game. ut on one side of the street going in one direction, ou on the other side headed in the other direction. You could yell just about anything as long as you kept moving. Stop walking and there was a good chance you were going to jail. The police were very decisive, and a hundred or so went to the jail each year. You didn't stay around anyone long enough to get them too mad, and the police took action before things started to get out of control. It was the only way to let several thousand drunks having a great time.
