I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I didn't realize that there are more verses to the Star Spangled Banner than what we all commonly sing: Star Spangled Banner Lyrics - USA Flag Site Reading all of the lyrics to this song gives me a completely different sense for what our country believed in back when it was adopted as our National Anthem. Although he mistakenly refers to it as the second verse, here is a Marine singing the fourth. I really like the end. Too bad it never gets sung. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
I agree but it should. Sent this information to LSU, in light of our rich military tradition, I don't see why it can't be sung at our school. We sing the entire alma mater now, why not the entire National Anthem?
Timing before the game. TV makes everything be on a specific schedule. The Drum Major know exactly what game clock should read when he/she steps out into the endzone to begin pregame. They have too many things going on to take the time to play through the star spangaled banner that many times.
not sure i understand the "so much for the secular nation" part, the SSB wasnt even written as a poem until long after our nation was founded.
dude have you heard the russian national anthem? it is awesome. the french and italian ones are also vastly superior to ours. our sucks. even god save the queen murders ours.
What? Is it hip/hop or something? Pretty happy with the one we have......if it doesn't suit you....oh well. Go serve one of those country and take your pride....I'm pretty much proud of ours....even if it isn't your favorite.
