No one is implying that we put him in early on or during a close game. None of what you just said matters if the game is already well in hand.
For him to see more snaps, he'd have to go in sooner, which means he could get more PT than Flynn. So you think that'd be Ok so long as the 'integrity' of the depth chart order is maintained?

And he is getting meaningful playing time to go along with his MVP. Perrilloux has got squat. Both reserves need to be ready and if you can't get #3 into the game in 45-point blowout, something ain't right. We were playing true freshmen out there.

I'm not saying elevate him on the depth chart, I'm saying get him in the game as well because it is important to the team. For the future if nothing else. We gain nothing if he find himself some greener pastures.

It may not matter in terms of winning the game, but it does matter in terms of consistency in the offense.

I wouldn't mind him seeing close to equal PT as Flynn, but not more. Flynn has paid his dues to be second string. The coaches have chosen him as second, he should get the snaps that show it. I know we as fans may see it as a blowout & not as beneficial for Flynn, but look at it from Flynn's perspective. It is the only time he gets to see the field. He wants to be out there as much as possible, even if that just means handing the ball off, and he's earned that much.

Name how many teams in the country ever play their 3rd string QB not due to injuries. Most teams don't even put second string in till the 4th quarter of a blowout. If you are third string, you should consider yourself lucky to see the field at all at the QB position.

You said put him in before Flynn. That sounds very similar to something that might come from a depth chart to me.

We gain nothing if Flynn finds greener pastures either.

Well, I don't think anyone can blame the coaching staff for not putting RP in earlier because at about 6 minutes left, RP was warmed up and ready on the sideline (and after Scott's 38 yard TD run, he WAS going in). But our 2nd and 3rd team defenders just couldn't knock the 'Zona offense off the field, and allowed the Wildcats to run off almost 5 min. off the clock.

You haven't substantiated this claim. What is 'consitency in the offense?' And how is it bad to disrupt this supposed phenomenon with a game already won? I seriously doubt it would have an adverse effect on future scenarios. Chances are, Flynn is out there with second and third-string guys. If he has to come into a game b/c JR goes down, it would likely be with the 1st string. Not much 'consistency' there.
So it's more important to satisfy Matt Flynn than to prepare what could be the backup QB next year (if Russell bolts for the NFL)? I don't agree.

Well, we can agree to disagree... or we could defer to a (any, really) college coaching staff. What do they do? They play the second string guys second & with atleast equal reps to the third string.

True, most other college teams have a third-stringer that would have started vs tOSU last night.

Well, our coaching staff obviously feels like we have 3 QBs that would've started, and Perrilloux is only third down on that list.

By the way, I personally think Perrilloux is the second best QB on the team, and Flynn is second place on the depth chart due to being in the system longer & experience, but none the less - Perrilloux is third according to the coaches.

I made that comment b/c Colt McCoy could very well have been RP's backup. Of course, Colt may have opted to go elsewhere had RP not wisened up.
