He's been waiting for the chance to drop USC. He's been ragging on them all year, especially since he had them number 1 going into the season and they never lived up to it.
i tend to agree about mandel. he doesn't really show favoritism and calls it how he sees it each week. he could never work for espn.
As usual, he's pretty accurate in his assessment. I get tired of teams being ranked purely on reputation when they haven't played anybody. I know some of that is necessary for teams with weak front end schedules. However, looking at an LSU team that's already played Florida, VT, and the Spurriercocks makes that gulf between 1 and 2 (and especially 1 and 3) awfully big.
