You assume that another QB would not make a mistake on the road, in the SEC, while its really loud, against the top talent in the country, on national tv, against a top 10 team? Considering he was like the top rated passer in the world, I'd stick with JaMarcus.
i disagree. VY had/has great scrambling ability. no need to call that "IT". "IT" is used because there is no clear way to define the way some players (usually less athletic) to win games. when i think of qb's with "it", i think of brady (tom not quinn), mauck, tee martin, craig krenzel.
True and I wouldn't want my actions/words to be viewed as anything less than encouraging people to post; however, "Sharing what you feel and think" is relative, as is free speech anywhere. :thumb: http://www.tigerforums.com/tftos.htm Any statement about a players' performance should be supported with some facts, that one kinda seemed like a swipe at one of our great ones, compounded by the fact that the two you mentioned were of different races. I'm done, that's all.
I understand why you may feel as you do about VY. Many people do. I had the opportunity to watch Vince as a high school and college player. I'm now fortunate to live in Nashville and watch him here with the Titans. What many folks don't realize about Vince is he played on a High School team with no defense. His "IT" factor comes from manipulating the High School games to have the ball last so he could win the game. That is why he is so cool with his decision making ability. You couple that with physical talent to run and throw the ball and he controls the game. USC and Ohio State all know about VY. Did he make mistakes his rookie year last year? You bet he did, everything is faster. He spent this summer bringing in his receivers down to Houston to work on his timing, and paid all expenses for his guys to come down there. That is also the "IT" factor. Doing whatever it takes to win. Not everyone has this kind of drive. I don't mean to be critical of JR, just saw opportunities he had to better control the game. Not many college athlete's can pull that off.
Please don't play the race card. I understand the sensitivity of that. I'm way ahead of that kind of stuff. There is no place for any kind of prejudice at anytime. Totally uncalled for.
JR isnt a player or recruit so he's fair game now. Anyway, i dont think the above comments about JR were "personal or disparaging".
Neither me, that's why they're still up, just cited it to reference there are lines in addressing the right to post "Thoughts/feelings". I said they were subjective and off-color and I'll stand by that. :thumb:
I can see tiga's perspective here. In the past, when such a comment is made it leads to the thread being a complete mess and thus mods really having to babysit everyone in the thread. I don't believe he was playing the race card. Moreso he was probably just thinking of what the responses were going to be. So he was trying to nip it in the bud!
Thanks grad. I know he wasn't playing the race card. To avoid posting again, I pm'd TenTex to explain to him that it wasn't meant as directly at him but when it exists, it's always a factor that comes into play and tends to do exactly what gradin stated. All is good! GEAUX TIGERS! Here's a toast to kickin some USC butt in the NC Game.
What people seem to think is Flynn is perfect. No QB is perfect. I remember Flynn throwing a "smart" pick to a defense that was shredded by the "less smarter" JaMarcus (35 points in one half, going for over 300 yards) on his first play of the game. On both of our losses last year, we were playing a top 10 team on the road, with not so much protection for the QB (watch the JaMarcus tribute on youtube) and ZERO (and I mean ZERO) running game. Hell, even Tom Brady cant pull that off. Flynn just hapenned to play in a good situation. A rested O-line that blocked greatly, a first-rounder starting NFL RB (Addai) killing Miami's defense. Remember Flynn only threw for a 100 and something yards, so he didnt actually "kill" the defense with his decision making...Now dont understand this as a negative comment to you or Flynn. I respect you, and Im all the way behind Flynn, hell, I've had his pic in my avatar like a month ago and not planning on removing it any time soon. I was also one of the first to respond to the pro-perrilloux guys. The guy is a very talented QB that deserves his chance and I respect him for sticking with LSU for 4 years just to start, though he could've been starting years ago for another top rated program. Im just saying we shouldnt be jumping on Russell's back even though he's not playing here anymore. The guy gave us all he's got and he IS one of the best QBs in Tigers history.:thumb:
