there's just one thing i dont understand about all these moron fans. why dont they sit by me at a game? i want them to really ...... one less fan extra seat.. hell yeah! :thumb: hey salty need extra tickets? I got a plan... LOL
Winning 4 and 5 close games hardly proves a coach's worth. It proves the players worth more than anything. So I don't agree with all the people that think The Big Lez is an amazing coach. But I'm not ready to fire the guy either. We didn't lose the Georgia game like we lost the Tenn. one. You can directly see points where The Big Lez was sitting on the ball with Tenn. and pissed the game away with bad play calling. On the other hand against Georgia we just didn't look like we had it together at all the entire game. Maybe it was the fact LSU has played 11? straight games. Maybe it was dropped balls, or penalties. Although honesty I wasn't mad after the Georgia loss, just upset. Did The Big Lez get out coached? Yes he did. But Mr. Meyer got out coached quite a few times this season, but no one doubts his abilities as a coach. I chalk it up to this being The Big Lez's first season. With our recruiting class though, with a pair of good RB's coming, hopefully the next few seasons will be bright ones. It also might help if someone sends The Big Lez "Headcoaching in the SEC for Dummies".
Hard to really evaluate a game without talking about the Coordinators isn't it? Or the fact that we really don't have a Starting RB. Don't think for a second having your top 2 RBs: 1 injured & the other other out for the season hasn't affected this team or the playcalling.. Anyway here's why I like Miles: I like the fact that Miles won 10 games (So far...)in his 1st season, and the fact that he surrounded himself with Top notch Asst. Coaches: Dunbar, Peveto etc. I like the fact that Miles has had LSU consistantly in the Top 10 for the 1st time since the 2003 season. I like the fact Miles took his time in picking a very good DC. who has our Defense ranked in the Top 5. I like the fact that Miles & his Asst. Coaches have quite a few top quality recruits looking at LSU right now, plus the excellent class we have so far. Miles is on the verge of fixing the chronic "RB injury" problems by signing 2 probably 3 of LA's Top RBs. I like the fact that Miles played a lot of players this year, and isn't afraid to play a younger player if they had a great practice week, which will obviously help in the 2006 season. This differs drastically from Saban's philosophy IMO. Miles has maintained a very professional demeanor at LSU & is very serious about his players academics, more than most probably believe. As far as discipline, he's had only 1 instance of a player (Pittman) being in any sort of trouble. But mostly I like the fact that Miles made this coaching change very smooth, much better than most anyone predicted. And for those who think Mles is some kind of a "Pushover" or "Player's Coach" or whatever, try to get in and watch a practice. Miles is not a constant screamer like Saban, but he definately demands & gets respect from his players. He will get in a player's grill with the best of 'em. But he doesn't hold a grudge, he'll yell encouragement to that same player when he does it correctly.
First off, I never, EVER, posted that Miles is a great coach. Find me one post where I said this coaching staff was doing a great job, or even that this was a well coached team, and I will give you $100.00. Your end of the deal after you realize you cannot find any such post is to STFU about it. I rarely, if ever, call anyone a bad fan. What I do call cretins like yourself are whiney ass, crybaby, immature, selfish stupid sons of b!tches for not having the capacity to enjoy a season where LSU won 10 out of 12 games. If this is not sufficient clarification, let me know and I'll attempt to use smaller words.
I disagree, there are some bad fans. There were people on here the other night trashing everything. I would be what you call a "true fan". I love my Tigers no matter what. I am dissapointed when they lose and when they play bad. But I never trash them. On this board I have always been positive and tried to pump up some of the other people who were here. I will always love the Tigers and I will always wear my purple and gold with pride. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
Your post was definitely a good one. But I disagree on one thing. I really WANT Les to be successful but I just dont think he will be. I hate to bring up Saban but when he was here I felt comfortable and thought we could outcoach a team. Now, I have no confidence at all. Although we are 10-2, I dont think Les and this coaching staff outcoached anyone. I think next year will tell alot with the tough road games we have.
I guess some people are more discriminating football fans than yourself, then. Apparently all you are interested in is W's. That keeps it simple. It doesn't bother me that there are LSU fans like yourself. I won't call you names because of it.
And I remember a lot of people, maybe not you but a very large amount, of fans questioning Nick Saban & his ability to outcoach other teams in his first few years here. It's easy to now say that Nick was great & you were comfortable, but that wasn't always the feeling before 2003. Nick had his fair share of bad decisions as a head coach. I felt more comfortable with Nick, but I still feel comfortable with Miles.
I'm glad that you feel comfortable. My question is simply, why? Blind faith? Is there something you see that makes you confident? I can't argue with the results Miles got this year, especially given the circumstances. I dare say that Nick Saban may not even have been able to match this record for the team given the outside destractions. Having said that, the last thing I feel with Miles is comfort. I feel like the program is a little unstable at this point, like the wheels are starting to wobble. Miles might be able to keep everything together, or things might start turning south. It is FAR too early to start saying he definitively can't get the job done, but by the same token, I feel it's too early to say he can. I'm definitely still in the wait and see camp. If two years from now we are still putting up 10 win seasons, then I'll have more confidence. But nothing in the way he's presented himself this season makes me comfortable.
I'm in the wait & see camp as well, but there are 2 sides in this camp: optimistic & pessimistic. I chose to be optimistic. Miles made a perrenial loser into a winner at Oklahoma St. He came to LSU and assembled a very good coaching staff. He finished a recruiting class nicely despite having only about a month to do so, and currently has a top 5 recruiting class. On top of that, he managed to hold this team together, win 10 games & take us to the SECCG despite numerous obstacles. Hell, just looking at that, there isn't much more he could have done this season to prove himself. However, and here's where the pessimists come from, he didn't look good doing it. He didn't display the fire we thought he would bring. He hasn't appeared very intelligent when talking to the media. And the team never put it all together to become great. Well, personally I don't think great was a fair expectation for this season regardless of who the coach was & am happy we managed to win 10 games without being great - just imagine when Miles does put together a great team. To me, Miles is similar to Mack Brown. Maybe in a little over his head, but that won't stop him from being successful. He can recruit & hire a good staff and that will be enough to keep LSU a winner.
