No complaints. The rose would have been great, having a major home field advantage will be great. The downside is that it will probably cost Nola tourism $$ because one team is local and so fans will not be staying in hotels, eating out, doing touristy stuff, etc. for as long a period of time. The city could have really used the cash infusion from two out of town traveling teams.
Anyone who is upset by LSU going to the Sugar bowl needs to get a grip. You only have to look back three or four weeks when LSU was ranked out of the top 10 and was projected to go to the Cotton, Outback, or Capital One bowls at best. As a matter of fact, after losing to the only two ranked programs we had played in Florida and Auburn, many people on here were moaning about the possibility of a three or four loss season. If you had been told right then we would end up ranked fourth at the end of the season and be playing in the Sugar bowl you would have wet yourself with excitement. This is great for the program to play a game against a team with National draw on a day when we are the only thing happening. Let's get fired up and get ready to stomp the Crying Irish into the ground...:tigerhead
Exactly. Ask Auburn (who beat us) if they'd be complaining about the Sugar. And ask Notre Dame if it's a letdown for them. Point is, we're not really supposed to even have this opportunity. And now we've got the chance to beatdown an over-rated media darling. Where's the problem?
U are correct as far as LSU is concerned *HOWEVER* we are talking about the bigger picture of what is wrong with college football and the BCS post season. I bet you weren't happy with LSU in the peach last year, this is my point. I'm happy with the bowl and always excited with the sugar but disappointed in the overall process once again! We've played Notre Dame in bowls before was hoping for a bigger matchup!
I do look at this as a letdown. We had an absolute dream scenario staring us in the face and it has been flushed down the toilet. We had a shot at Michigan! Big Ten power, winningest program of all time in THEIR bowl. Not just any bowl either. This is the largest capacity stadium of the 4 BCS bowls. The one that normally gets the highest TV ratings. Not to mention the only one carried by ABC, who is part of the ESPN family. Meaning we could have stomped a mudhole in a Media darlings @$$ right in front of the talking head pr!cks' faces. Of course that went by the wayside when USuCk screwed the pooch against UCLA. But hey then we all thought we would get a shot at those arrogant panty waste pieces of sh!t. But nooooo, the @$$hole voters were so deadset against a rematch, that all of a sudden who they thought were #4 suddenly were number 2 because they beat a team they were favored to beat? All while the team directly in front of them stayed home and didn't play? It's BULLSH!T!!!! The syatem is a phucking farce, and everyone here knows it.
What a bunch of babies. Read J from Iowa's post again. Christ, some of you really do act like children.
actually, 2003 was the most profitable sugar bowl ever. you still have tiger fans from all over the south and everywhere else who need hotel rooms. and new orleans loves us just as much as omaha and many of the other places that LSU fans frequent b/c we spend spend spend. trust me in a non nat'l champ year for the sugar this is a dream matchup. a sold out dome and a national audience for ND. the rose would have been nice b/c of how rare it was but this is a good thing for the city of new orleans and for the LSU Tigers. :thumb:
If LSU wasn't in the equation, would you have truly wanted to see a rematch for the nc.??? michigan, a team that didn't win their conference? a farce is when a team gets beat and doesn't drop in the polls. i wanted the rose bowl, but this could've been LSU in fla's spot in another year. this was for the good of college football.
I agree with everything you just said. But Damn Sugar sure is Sweet! From 1989 to 2000, I'd have just sat and Sh_t myself to get the sugar 3 times in 6 years!!!!! Hey I was seriously rolling the idea of taking my wife and two boys to Pasadena for the whole New Years event. So I to have to admit I was somewhat disapointed that the Rose didnt pick us but like I said, Damn Sugar is Sweet! Also, I Love any chance to Play and hopefully spank the notre dame Puke's!! Geaux Tigers!
It was the way they decided against a rematch that p!$$es me off. First they tried tp give it to USC, and to be on the safe side that UF didn't jump the condoms, they put the gators @ 4. One problem, USuCk lost. Then they had to do the unthinkable. Have a team get jumped in back to back weeks without playing. Answer this question honestly for me. "If" you were so sure that Michigan was better than Florida that you voted UM ahead of UF, what did you see in the SECCG that changed your mind? UF blew a few opportunities to turn the game into a blowout, they allowed Arky to not only come back from 17 down, but take the lead in the second half. In fact, UF needed an ignorant punt returner to make a boneheaded play to swing the game their way again. Make no mistake about it, the ONLY reason they voted UF ahead of Michigan was to avoid the backlash the rematch would have started. If that's the reason, and not that Florida was better, then the poll is fraudulent at best.
